ok guys im sure you guys remember the thread aggressive right handers, well ive decided im done messing around with this kid and im not going to spar with him anymore! ya ya ya i know im goona feel less of my skills due to me not sparring him, but the reason is is its not sparring its like a street fight but with gloves on and in a ring and im getting hit hard and so is he so we usually leave with a bruise or two **** even last week i got hit hard in the neck by him, so ive decided screw it man if im goona take care of my body then its best in my choice to not spar with him. another reason is is that he will tell you ya man lets go light and next thing hes hitting with bombs and then that leads to me getting pissed off and hitting him back and we both end up walking away with pain so i said screw it im only goona spar with people that have self control

tell me what you guys think or if youve had something similar happen in your gym

Man It's hard to say without acutally seein it you kno. I mean, if you can't take hard sparring, what makes you think youll take a hard match. Granted Sparring in also done to perfect your skills esp. defensive. Sooner or later if you keep sparring the same person...you will figure out his pattern and you'll adapt to it and then his punches wont seem to bad. Its your decision who you want to spar but you need to work up to the more hard people. You prolly do need to toughen up a bit but its not your only choice. Take it slow and easy, **** like this dont come in a few weeks. Use that brain you got, be quick on your feet and watch closely what the other guys does. Your gunna run into guys like that alllllll the time. Better learn now how to control them, while in a controled environment.

If he's sparring just to hurt you then tell him to **** off. If he's not even boxing when he's in the ring then tell him to **** off.

**** you to whoever said "toughen up" and that was it.

Yes, you need to toughen up.

If you are in an amateur fight and someone starts doing this to you, what are you going to do? Say you're not fighting cos he is fighting the way you dont want to?

Doing this breeds a losing attitude. You need to go in there knowing the way he is, and start hurting him for 3 minutes. Its the same in my club, I have utter control with people who dont have my skills or experience, and I have utter disrespect for people who throw bombs. The difference is that no matter what they do they are gonna be eating my shots so they can throw as hard as they like... thats more hard shots over my head or hitting the guard. Also my opportunity to put on my ¨dont give a ****¨ attitude and start doing what they are doing back.

The only time I would ever consider doing what you are doing is if i'm in with a professional heavyweight, whilst I am an amateur welter, and he is doing what this kid is doing. Otherwise you need to start wacking this dude clean in the face to warn him that you arent gonna take any more of his bull****...

its diffrent if its a ammatuer fight im not ready to spar at that high of a level i have only been training for 5 months and no way in hell could i trade hits with this kid due to him being a more experienced boxer and couple people at my gym stated that a while ago he was terrible and people would take it easy on him when he sparred but he never takes it easy when hes in there with people with less skills than him and last week he hurt 1 new kid and the week before that also both of the kids didnt knwo what they were doing so he knocked one of them on thier ass and it was discusting to watch because they werent big they were just my age and they didnt know a damn thing about sparring they only had 3 months experience and bam the last 30 seconds he started hitting like crazy it was a terrible view to see a experienced 2 year boxer try to ko another kid that had no experience but 2 months

I can see why you would want to avoid a gym war three times a week. I would also want to put the guy in his place to make him think twice about going too hard. Just look at Versys second sparring vid where he knocked the guy down because he was going to hard.
