  • is it just me, or do some gloves need to break in?

i just got the everlast professional training gloves in 16oz.

when i put them on, it feels tight at thumb/palm area. when i try to make a fist, that area starts to hurt.

i just used them on the bag, couldnt really last more than 1 round, with that pain under the thumb. it's like, the gloves wont let my hands make a "natural fist" (like, it wont let my thumb close all the way).

i had this problem with the blue ringside international training gloves, but not as bad. after a week of using the ringside, the thumb pain was gone, i guess it just needed break-in time.

does anyone else experience this? i will use the everlast pro-training gloves more often to break them in, and see if it works good.

yeah, a couple weeks ago, but i didnt mention the whole "break-in" thing. i just made the thread right after i tried the ringside international gloves for the first time (without giving it time to break-in).

now i just wanna know if anyone had similar experiences, and how long it took for their gloves to get comfy.

by the way, Animal Squabbs, you were the one who always had the same pain when using the everlast pro bag gloves? did it ever go away after using them for a couple weeks?

That part of my hand hurts every time I go to the gym. It's been a year. Started on day one, it hurts right now. I figured it was par for the course, muscle strain or something. I mean, after two hours at the gym, my abs hurt, my calves hurt, my neck hurts -- all from working out; you know, a good hurt. That pain-leaving-your-body hurt.

If something's wrong, I'd love to know.

Yeah, no kidding. I'm the maintenance lead at a manufacturing plant. Sore hands make for long days.

I've got the same gloves. 14oz and 16oz. They both took about 3-4 weeks of working the bag and pads to get rid of that pain and overall stifness of the glove. Just keep at it, it'll get better.
