You can't say for certain how much you should run because every person's different...

I usually run (when I start training again anyhow) about 1-2 miles

On the other hand I know people that would run up to 7 miles....

The biggest variant is that if your running on the street and not a foam track you can hurt your knee's...This is bad if your mixing Running with Training in the gym...You can't spar with soreness of the legs....

Every morning, I either cover 2-3 miles at an easy pace around my hill --switching uphill and downhill every few blocks -- or I run a few blocks to a set of stairs -- 237 stairs over 4 blocks, to be precise -- that lead most of the way up my hill, and then walk up and down those for about 45 minutes to an hour. Depends on how severely I've worked my legs the day before.

i think 3 miles is more than enough.

this is how i think of it..

an amateur boxing match is 8 minutes of work and 11 minutes total including rests

if you run 3 miles at 6 minutes a mile (which is incredibly fast, but ill use it for my example) thats 18 minutes of running.

        see what i mean?

my logic might be wrong but thats how i see it

I don't really run for conditioning; it's mostly for weight control and it makes the rest of the day easier. If I don't run the morning after boxing, I'm stiff and sore all day.

i run a mile warm up,walk for a couple minutes then i do what i call round running,i almost sprint 3/4 of my full speed anyway(estimated) for three minutes then walk for a minute, this gets your body to imitate what you would do in the ring intensity wise anyway...oh an i do the about five rounds

I feel for an amatuer fight which is 8 minutes you should run 4 times that much each week to stay inreasonable shape which is 32 minutes a week.
But thats including other boxing activities such as calisthenics.
