been trying to use Dempsey's power-line theory
could be an issue with the wrap
right handed, but fight southpaw, so maybe my left hand's not as structurally sound
i dunno what it is but i need to change somethin, coz this isn't the first time it's happened this year.
wonder if those gel gloves are the answer...
Dempsey's power-line theory is pretty ****ing hard to use, eh? I tried it awhile ago along with the falling step move.. I found it extremely ackward and so hard to do that I felt like a kid with downs trying to walk.My trainer saw me doing it and slapped me in the back of the head and told me to stick to what I was good at! Lol.. good luck! And tell me if you ever actually get it to work for you!

You can practice the timing on the "power line" concept -- the open-/closed-fist snap -- by trying to put out a candle with it. Don't touch the wick; tighten your fist and snap the blow back so that the force of the air in front of your knuckles blows the flame out. An old guy I work with, who was Golden Gloves in New York City back when God was a boy, can still do this. He's, like, 60-something. He says Dempsey called that punch -- the vertical drop-step jab -- "the Jolt."

So it is working, my only problem is that my left hand bruises easier than my right. I did kung fu for a while as a kid and did all my iron fist stuff on my right hand. My left is a bit weak, but i fight better as a southpaw and i'm trying ot even it up.

with a head shot your arm rotates over too much and it becomes a half ******ed overhand.
i think the punch is more powerful and seems to take a lot less energy then an overhand or using corkscrew power. But it's a little awkward. The power comes from the momentum you build during the fall and from snapping tight at the moment of impact. It's not like a matter of trying to contract your muscles better as you would throwing a normal punch or even throwing a ball. It's more of a matter of having your falling bodyweight power the shot and it feels so much different.
I like it a lot i just want my left hand to stop bruising.

i have a pair of title platinum training gloves and the wrist support isn't as good as the usual glove, it's easy to move your wrists around. properly wrapped hands should be enough, though (of course, you should be wearing handwraps, anyways).
I have a pair of the title platinum bag gloves and im not too happy with them.
The wrist support is good, but the padding itself feels too soft and it doesnt feel that stiff like my amature gloves.
I frequently bruise my knuckles when i use the 16oz bag gloves, but rarely ever when i use my 10 oz amature gloves.

Update: the Ringside were backordered; I cancelled the order and ordered the Title Gel gloves, instead. The Title gloves have the velcro wrap, which I like better anyway. I'll knock some people around in them next week and post a review.
