The difference, 13.4 lbs., is the fat he's lost. Pretty good. But as far as retaining muscle mass, pretty bad. He's lost is 22-13.4 = 8.6 lbs.

I'm sorry but losing almost 9 lbs. of muscle in 10 weeks is ridiculous.

Edit: In fact, it sounds like someone pulled numbers out of their ass, without thinking it through, because losing that much muscle would be rather difficult...
so you dont think he retained most of his muscle like he says?

Obviously he's still gonna have a significant amount of muscle on him (depending on how muscular he was in the first place, of course). Muscle doesn't go away, you'll still have the same amount of muscle fibre, they just shrink. Technically, yeah, he's still got most of his muscle mass. No one will ever lose MOST of their muscle mass on a diet, unless it's a "Christian Bale in the machinist/anorexia/concentration camp" style diet (which most people don't have the will power to go through anyway).

The bottom line is he lost 9 lbs. of muscle in 10 weeks. That's a lot of muscle. Most people in this forum couldn't do that on a diet if they tried. Add to that, the fact that he's giving advice on how to cut so you won't lose muscle mass. I'll repeat: He lost 9 lbs. in 10 weeks! That's 40% of the total weight loss of 22 lbs.

Do you REALLY think it is impressive to give out advice on how to lose fat while retaining muscle, when, in reality, almost half of the weight he lost was actually muscle?

Oh, on a properly planned and executed diet, you'll lose about 1 lb. a week. This guy almost lost 1 lb. of LEAN MUSCLE each week of his diet. That should point you in the direction of how horrible his results were, and what a bad position to be giving diet advice really is.
