Shannon is a good guy.. he talks smack but he doesn't go over the top.. I quite like Shannon briggs the person. I disrespect him because IMO he is JUICED to the max.. Its called cheating.. Maybe everybody does? but not everyone is obvious.... I am also Thankful he beat Liakhovich.. Who I feel was way overated just because he beat another way overated Likeable guy..

1. His stamina is THE WORST I HAVE EVER SEEN BY ANY TITLE HOLDER IN ANY WEIGHTCLASS IN THE SPORTS HISTORY. Maybe someone with worse stamina existed, but I haven't seen film of him.
2. His chin is not very strong. Poor stamina and a weak chin are a terrible, terrible combination.
3. He lost to Darroll Wilson, Jameel McCline, Sedreck Fields while looking better than he just did last night. Tell me, if he lost to these guys when he was young and had better stamina, what can he do now that he's bloated and roided up and can't throw more than 10 punches per round?
4. The fight he won his title in, was one of the worst title fights I've seen.
5. The opponent, Sergei Lyhakhovich was in ****ty condition himself and fought like a complete *****. I like Sergei and think he can do better, but he was garbage on that night.
6. People on this forum are hyping him up like he's even as good as Maskaev or Oleg who at least show they can fight for 12 rounds at a passable activity level, which is a PREREQUISITE for a champion fighter.
7. He clearly used steroids. Don't ask me to prove it, you know he does.
All of these things add up to a really ****ty champion in Shannon Briggs. If Butterbean got in a lucky punch and became champion I would not be any more upset. At least Butterbean at 330 lbs of complete flab proved he can go 10 rounds while throwing a decent amount of punches vs. Holmes.
Briggs is the weakest heavyweight title holder ever. Compared to him, a guy like Ruiz should be considered an all time great.
I will stop talking **** about him when he fights a top five contender and beats him in a convincing manner. Until then I consider his win over Sergei a stroke of luck in having an unprepared and fearful man standing across the ring from him. Even then, Briggs was so cautious and reluctant to throw punches. When Brewster beat Golota in one round I knew that Golota wasn't his best but it was such a strong performance that I gave Brewster full credit. That was such a pitiful performance by Briggs that I actually LOST respect for him in his victory. I knew his stamina was bad but that was unbelievable. I was laughing out loud when he looked winded after the second round after throwing a grand total of maybe 30-40 punches by that point. Sergei just looked completely lost concerning what to do with the spent Briggs that he allowed the fight to go into the later rounds where his own miserably out of shape self tired and was stopped.
Just a terrible, terrible fight.Comment

man steroid use is huge nowadays, i don't think it should matter if its obvious or not. put himself in his position, or the position of a pro football player. theres a good chance that if it would benifit u, ud use them as well. Either way i don't think u should not have respect for a top pro athlete because he uses roids.Comment

I think by his respect he means his respect for Briggs as a champion with aspirations for unification, not as a person. I don't hate Briggs as a person or even as a fighter but him with a title belt is ridiculous, even in this division.
As a fighter in his prime he was a pretty good early round offensive machine. Decent B- contender I'd say. But now he's past his prime and isn't even as good as he was when he had those losses. As a champion at his age, with his flaws, he shouldn't even be taken seriously.Comment
