Who do Mayweather's critics expect him to fight?

Seriously, you guys act like there's other people Mayweather could be fighting than the people he is fighting when there clearly isn't.
The only guy he's missed fighting was Hatton and that was entirely Hatton's fault for turning him down twice. Then you could say Mosley, but Mosley turned him down for 2006 as well. Do you really expect Mayweather to WAIT for these guys, especially considering Floyd is the best fighter in the world and should be calling the shots?
Margarito and Williams are nothing more than prospects until they win some real fights. At least Williams wants to fight Margarito. If Margarito beats Clottey, Williams, maybe Judah then he should get a fight with Mayweather. Williams has a loooong way to go.
Cory Spinks has better wins than Margarito and Williams combined.
Cotto hasn't even accomplished anything really. I mean he's undefeated and has some good knockouts, but Hatton has a better win than most of Cotto's wins combined.
SO WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM HIM? Do you expect him to fight Jermain Taylor and Joe Calzaghe? Is that why you're mad?
i agree with some of this, but as far as i'm concerned floyd should be clearing out his divisions, since he's as gifted as he is. at least nab up all the belt in each division he's in. instead of sniping and hand picking guys to fight.
if floyd were to grab the all the belts (or at least the main three belts) then move up instead of fighting one guy in the division and moving to the next he might be more revered by people.
without a doubt he's the best in boxing right now, but i think he's missing some key fights to be considered for an All Time Great, or even Great for that matter.
who do i expect Mayweather to fight? everyone! he should leave no stone unturned. if he wants the high acclaim then he should go all out and dominate every division he fights in.
EDIT: i'm glad that floyd and oscar are fighting though, this will make Mayweathers career if he beats DLH, and Vise Versa, well at least solidify DLH's.Last edited by deuce_drop; 11-14-2006, 01:55 PM.Comment

I think it's pretty damn obvious. Hatton always brings up Mayweather's name in the press so he doesn't look like he's a *****, but deep down inside Hatton and his people know they don't want to fight Mayweather unless they can cash out. Hatton is just not in the same league as Floyd. Hatton moves up 1 division and struggles against a paper champion. Floyd moves up to his fourth division and dominates the former and current undisputed champions...Hatton is at 140 and is terrified of 147, Floyd is fighting his next fight at 154, and willl probably stay there for Spinks. I honestly don't see this fight happening.
I give Ricky credit, he knows his limits, and knows that Mayweather is completely out of reach and out of his league. I honestly believe that despite all the "Oh yeah, yeah some time in the next 85 years I'm going to fight Floyd Mayweather, I know how to beat him! Just give me another 39 fights," he actually has no intention on getting his ass schooled.
Oh wait, Hatton's best weight is 140. Well, Hatton has been put on his ass at 140 and has struggled against bums. Floyd has only struggled once in a fight and that was against a P4P level fighter, not against some journeyman...
Hatton has been offered the fight twice and he's declined it both times and yet some dumbasses on here want to say this is Floyd ducking Hatton? When has Hatton made an offer to Floyd?Last edited by Guest; 11-14-2006, 01:58 PM.Comment

In case you missed my earlier response on your brilliant thread, "Told Y'all....pt 37"
I'm not going to get into a debate with you because I don't want to feel my IQ drop by the post; but since you decided to fire a shot in my direction, deal with this: You are a sad little dweeb that feels the need to make threads such as this one so as to embellish your overall importance in a pathetic cry for respect.
Your crying for attention and over-the-top self-praise is indicatve of an extremely fragile ego and low feelings of self worth, which you try to boost through contact in the cyber-world. Your following along with the trend, concerning fight-picks, does not make you an expert as much as it paints a facade that you actually know your ass from a hole in the ground.
I have, in all likelihood, forgotten more about the sweet science than you are likely to learn in two life-times; but if it keeps you from spiraling downward into a pit of self-loathing and depression and ultimately suicide, feel free to assert your so-called "knowledge".
However, in between logging on to this website and proclaiming your own greatness and expert-analysis, think about going outside of your little room and trying to make some friends, or, maybe even talking to a girl for once in your life. You might find contact with real people in the real world to be both self-rewarding and esteem-building in nature.
Good luck with it, junior....Have a Nice Day.

that's understandable. I suppose he could have offered Cotto a fight at 140, but the only other champion was Hatton (IBF and WBA), and Hatton refused him. So he could have fought Cotto, but honestly Judah and Baldomir were much bigger, more accomplished opponents than Cotto. and who knows if Arum would have let Cotto fight? I think not. I don't doubt that Cotto would have wanted it, but I don't think his management would have let him. Mayweather probably did the only thing he could by moving up.i agree with some of this, but as far as i'm concerned floyd should be clearing out his divisions, since he's as gifted as he is. at least nab up all the belt in each division he's in. instead of sniping and hand picking guys to fight.

so at 147 we have champions in Hatton and Margarito. as previously stated, Hatton has ran from Mayweather like nobody's business so the WBA title was out. then there's Margarito, who still has accomplished nothing, although he is forced to try now. if he beats Clottey and Paul Williams, then I could see Mayweather needing to fight him. but as it stands, Margarito sat 2006 out waiting for Mayweather when he should have been making and winning big fights, something he did not do.
so really Mayweather HAS cleaned out the divisions whenever and wherever possible so long as the opponents are deserving.Comment

Why is gathering paper titles so important? So if Floyd moved down to 140 to fight Urango, Witter, M'Baye, and the winner of Torres-Arnaoutis, you think his legacy would be that much greater? You think those 4 fights combined can do more than moving up to 154 and beating a legend?i agree with some of this, but as far as i'm concerned floyd should be clearing out his divisions, since he's as gifted as he is. at least nab up all the belt in each division he's in. instead of sniping and hand picking guys to fight.

So who didn't Floyd fight at 147, other than the former Undisputed Welterweight champion of the world and the lineal Welterweight champion of the world?i agree with some of this, but as far as i'm concerned floyd should be clearing out his divisions, since he's as gifted as he is. at least nab up all the belt in each division he's in. instead of sniping and hand picking guys to fight.

Oh right, he didn't fight that man... y'know the guy that won a paperbelt... y'know the WBO paper champ, the guy that had a title shot for it and lost, then only got the belt because Santos moved up to 154, and... has defended the belt against absolutely no one of note... what's his name again? Oh yeah, Antonio Margarito.
Damn, is that going to have a damper on his legacy

do professional writers get this personal? heheheheheh. this "junior" has exposed you enough for 2 lifetimes. people that don't know jack **** about boxing could tell you Baldomir had no chance and that Peter couldn't stop Toney just from watching 2-3 fights of all those guys.In case you missed my earlier response on your brilliant thread, "Told Y'all....pt 37"
