Of recent books that I've enjoyed, I have to mention Sugar Ray Leonard and Other Noble Warriors by Sam Toperoff. It's not just a Leonard bio, it's actually a story of how an English professor got around to becoming a boxing writer, going back to experiences with **** Tiger and Emmile Griffith that is truly a testament to the pure love of boxing.

I just finished Pound For Pound, the Sugar Ray Robinson bio by Herb Boyd. While it was very insightful and provided clarity on an otherwise blurry character, I couldn't help but feel that Boyd was too biased in his account of Robinson. I would've liked to see him get more objective sources.

      fromt he library.

Its about the Louis Shmelling fights. I already knew a lot about the fights, but after reading under 50 pages I have easily doubled my knowledge about the fights.

Very well written, incredibly informative, and a topic thats very interesting
I read that book a couple months ago, I really liked it. That writer went through a lot of newspaper articles to get that info LOL. I lost that book at the Orlando bus terminal so had to buy it again once I got to West Palm Beach. It's a long read.

I've read the Ageless Warrior (it's a bio of Archie Moore). I actually disliked the book, the style of writing bored me to death. I guess it had to do more with the writer than the figher. The other boxing book that I've read is George Foreman's biography and to me that is one of the best books period.

Asian, I love reading Hauser's columns, what's a good book of his to read except for the Ali books?

yea its a great book, to long though. he dragged on about certain topics for far to long.

i saw a different book about the fights in the bookstore a couple days ago, called "Louis-Schmelling- The greatest fight of our generation" And its a lot smaller and has lots of cool pictures and stuff. so if ur interested, but dont want to read a million pages, this looks good.

I also just read "Sound and Fury" on Ali and Cossell relationship, "Hands of Stone" the story of Roberto Duran, and am currently reading "Italian Stallions" which is just a compilation of articles from the time period but its a really fun read, some great pictures of the fights and everything.

i remmomend each of those books, althought Sound and Fury is a little slow and Hands of Stone is a great great book, but the translations of what roberto and his friends say SUCK. they are terrible. Other then that great great book.

The book I am reading right now is by Dan Horgan, the teenaged writer whose work appears on Doghouse Boxing and MaxBoxing.com . It's called "Bringing Back Boxing". This kid is something else in the way that he relates his message very frankly, with such confidence. In it he talks a lot about what it's like being a young boxing writer, something I can relate to, and about how his passion has been justified by the work that he's accomplished so far.

I'm featured about 7-8 times in the book in mentions and citations, which I guess makes it more fun to read LOL. The book comes out in two weeks so I suggest you pick it up.

Reading King of the World at the moment, masterfully written, creates an amazing sense of the world at its time.

Another great book is 'Hands of Stone' the biography of Roberto Duran. Excellent, Excellent book.
