Why should their race be important? I thought this was 2006, not 1976. True fans of any sport just want to see great sportsmen. This sort of nonsense doesn't belong in modern society.

Personally there should be a hunt for Black Hopes, and not white hopes. 90% of the "name" fighters currently in the sport are not Black. They are white, hispanic, mexican, filipino, etc. Top African American fighters are really on the decline in boxing, as other races and countries are taking over the sport.
The phrase white hope is a dead phrase in my opinion.Comment
