and my scorecards were not particularly different.
you are confusing thrown punches with landed punches, and the landing part only Castillo did it.
as i wrote all over the place, Duran was a beast.
you say that when he brings it all he is unbeatable. The fact that he didnt always bring it all to the ring has to be accounted for, otherwise Judah is a great fighter.
Margarito has nothing to do with Duran. Duran is faster and 10 more skilled. I know we will never agree on this: you want to see mayw-margarito (ie: mayw vs someone big, powerful and bringing pressure), I want to see mayw-hatton, (ie: mayw. vs someone who brings pressure speed angles).
Why? because the fight with margarito would be Floyd evading and pot shotting until (and IF he does at all, the size of this IF is where our opinion diverges) margarito lands a big haymaker. So I would not see the thing I am most curious about: Floyd actually fighting, which can be brought out only by someone who can move on his ass real fast and be there all night, and throw punches that he doesnt see coming (not all of them at least).
Mayw. and Benitez-- the human radar is one of the greatest defensive fighters of all time, so is mayw. your "two shoulder above" comment is your opinion. i will give you mine
Who is more effective? their defense is different. Not so much because floyd relies on his feet, more than benitez (although it is definitely true in some fights). Benitez is more instinctive. mayw more technically sound. Benitez is more careless, a la roy jones or ali, (although more technically solid than these two. who are almost pathological cases). But Benitez's is less "robust to mistakes" than mayw's, which is more planned. This is just reflection of mayw's being a gym rat and benitez being famous for not training (hence the famous quote from Manny Steward (before Hearns Benitez), something like "now that I know benitez trained for the fight, I am sure we will win"). It might have been that with more discipline Benitez might have trained and bridled his great instincts to perfection and would now be rated above willie pep but he did not.
