And Hatton will beat him..
Would you Consider Mayweather an Alltime Great?

Im just sick of people hating on the #1 fighter in the world today...give the man some credit he was fighting a guy 15 pounds heavier than him and who walks around 180 when not training, beaten Judah and Gatti, was the Linear welterweight champion who only won one round against FloydComment

See, that's what I don't understand about Floyd and most of today's fighter in comparison to yesterday's legends. Ray Robinson cleaned out the welterweight division, fighting Zivic before he'd even been pro for a year...or just over a year, if memory serves me correctly. He wanted to prove he was the best and went through the divison like a weedeater through the underbrush, leaving no stone unturned. At Middleweight, he takes on LaMotta, Graziano, Turpin, Olson, Fulmer, Basilio, etc.
What's wrong with expectin Floyd to clean out the divsiions he claims to conquer? If you want to be "a legend", you don't have to be proded into taking on the best...you want to show you're the best, not just "tell everybody" you're the best....freakin' show them.
That just chaps my ass about today's fighters, and, in this case, Floyd. Talk, talk, talk, talk, talk...then, "show me the money!". Naw, man. Do you want to be rich or famous? Do you want to prove you're the best of all time or not?
I'm not saying there's anything wrong with getting paid a buttload of money for your performance; but the win and the names on the gun belt are what makes a legend a legend...not how much money they retire with. History or Hypery; which do you want?
That was always my problem with De La Hoya. He was always jumping divisions ala an old Leonard.....but at least he did take on the best, even if he didn't beat them all in their prime, or at all.
bump.....not sure if you saw this one, Parody.Comment

PBF is nice but honestly hasnt impressed me enough to consider all time great. to go along with what ppl have said, you cant claim your the best of the era let alone of all time when you havent fought everyone u can that poses a challenge.
in the end, if he walks away even winning over DLH when i tell my kids about past boxers the only thing imma say about PBF that he had the potenial to be THE best but just didnt do it. if he keeps goin and fights hatton, mosely,DLH and win, or at least show a impressive preformance then we can talkComment

Everyone knows im a HUGE floyd fan, but to be honest with you I think the retirement thing was bull****, do you remember just two weeks ago there was article in boxingscene claiming that floyd aid he would fight for another decade, personally i think he was pissed off with merchant, which he should'nt have been because that is merchants job to ask question, he did it too hopkins too but hopkins responded cleverly, No I dont floyd is up there with Robinson, but he is in the top 10 easily, and if he fights for lets say 3 more years he will have that status, there are many fights for him Cotto, Margarito, Williams, Spinks, Oscar, Mosley, Hatton...I honestly think floyd beats any fighter under 154 lbs, with skill alone, back in the days fighters did'nt have half the facilities they have now due to the technology, and i think honestly fighters of lower weights of this era could compete against the old ones, e.g barrera, morales, pac, floyd, winky, taylor, etc etc many others, robinson also fought those guys like 5 or 6 times
floyd can conquer the division but not my fighting someone who a casual boxing fan has literally no idea about, and it would'nt do much for his legacy if he fights someone who has already lost, you cant say that about the judah win because floyd beat both judah and linear welterweight baldomir who upset judah and gatti.
Oscar, Mosley, Hatton and Cotto (Should he defeat Quintana in good fashion) are Big fights which will draw fans from both sides, whereas Williams or Margarito fights would draw most of Floyd fans and others would have no idea who those two guys are, would'nt do much for the Legacy as I said, If floyd is the best he would fight the best, he has before and he will do it, oscar is next but he has good fights, fighting margarito or williams would'nt do him any good - like i said "fighting the best" the retirement thing was to get Oscar's attention and to play mind games with him (which he succeeded, oscar replied today on boxing talk) he fought Baldomir for two reasons (1- there was no other fight and floyd wanted to be active, 2- baldomir was the linear champion and some had expected him to beat floyd)...i think baldy beats Marg anyway.
I dont mind floyd talking good about himself, honestly what fighter would'nt, but look at this way:
#1 Fighter in the world today
champion in 4 weight classes (2 Linear)
most talented fighter today
3 fights...Oscar, Mosley and Hatton, and then floyd can say whatever he wants, even retire if he wants. I think the retirement part after the baldomir fight was floyd showing his emotions after the fight when larry questioned him.Comment

If he beats oscar and maybe 2 or 3 other big named opponents and stays undeafeted then I'd consider him as an all time great.
But I really dont like how he is thinking of retiring when there's so much more to accomplish still out there.Comment

You Floyd lovers can dis me all you want but I'm aloud to have my own opinion. He has'nt done enough in my eyes to be an all time great. He wil be remembered but I think there will always be some kind of controversy. Personally if he retires now it will only be the hard core boxing fans who remember him. Thats my opinion so if you bad mouth me you kind of look ******.Comment

No....he doesnt have to beat ODLH to make him more likely to be an all time great. ODLH is still good but he is past his best. If he wants to fight him though thats fine. But after beating or losing to the golden boy, he still has to finish business with Hatton, Cotto and a few others.
Sorry to be repeating this, but no change there by beating ODLH.Comment
