My personal thoughts on Mayweather's legacy.

Mayweather is full of himself. He's the best figher of his time but so was RJJ and neither ever came close to accomplishing what Greb, Ray Leonard or Robinson, Benny Leonard, etc did. He's completely delusional at this point and any time he tries to claim he's the greatest of all time I have to laugh at him. It's funny. Him crying after beating Baldomir as if it were a career defining fight is funny. Baldomir is much worse than Carmen Bassilio, who is far from the most impressive notch on Robinson's belt. Baldy is not even a Gene Fullmer to be honest.

No offense to Mayweather, he's got serious skill and talent, but his resume is a joke compared to Harry Greb or Ray Robinson. He's like some brilliant young highschool kid thinking he's smarter than anyone in Harvard just because he never met anyone close to his intelligence in his hometown. Mayweather's great, but not THAT great. He has a ****load of work on his hands to even break the top ten P4P.

As for him ever reaching that coveted #1 spot, he would have to fight 100-200 times with many big wins against top guys before he even comes close to matching a Greb or Robinson for me. You might say that's impossible. Okay, then it's impossible for him to ever top Robinson. I don't care if you think it's fair or not, I personally think it's unfair to cheapen what Robinson accomplished by saying "well guys fight less often these days so Mayweather has to do less to be comparable to those older guys".

Its' not Mayweathers fault he lives in an era when boxing isn't a big sport anymore, but it should still hurt his ranking IMO.

I think its kind of natural of a fighter to think he is up there with greats. I'm sure the goal is to be the best ever. People around Floyd probably make him think he's the greatest ever. I agree that he isn't up there with SRR, but I put him close to Leonard.

He'd have to fight until he's like in his late 30's to be even thought of in that level.

If I'm honest, I find it pretty disgusting that people are actually holding up his record for comparison with some of the greats. His "0" means **** all and his level of competition and longevity just doesn't stack up against these guys.

I agree, if he doesn't want to fight then he doesn't want to be #1.
People use the exuse that fighters don't fight as often nowadays, they could change that by simply fighting more often and staying in shape instead of needing 3 or 4 months to trim back down, but the fact is they don't want to
fight. One could say that Robison's record is inflated but he really fought EVERYBODY, that means all comers, and that includes the elite fighters of his era, something Floyd really hasn't done.

Greb and Robinson will never be as great as Joe Gans, because they only fought 15 rounders at a championship level. it's not their fault if they lived in an era where the sport had those rules, but it should still hurt their rankings IMO.

btw a brilliant high school kid need not be so wrong in assuming he is smarter than a Harvard student, given how their admissions work. He would almost surely have a less wealthy family.

I honestly do think hes an alltime great, but not on the level of the guys he said he was better than like Ray Leonard, Ray Robinson etc. I think he has to get those superfights with cotto/hatton/dlh/mosley/spinks. and **** margarito and williams, they arent guys at this moment who would make him an alltime great, if margarito ends up having a **** career (like the one he has right now) the victory would mean nothing.
