So Mayweather didn't come close to losing to Henry Brusselles, Arturo Gatti and (shot) Sharmba Mitchell, and is undefeated, so that makes him better than Ali who fought Liston, Frazier, Foreman... because Ali lost a few?

Jesus ****ing Christ in a blender!
    Wow!
    In a blender? lol
    I agree btw.

Diego is a proven moron and his opinion amounts to a dead cat I might see on the road on my way to work. It's ugly, perhaps even a little sad, but I try to ignore it and just keep driving.

all time great? no, for one reason: he has never been tested. he never had that grueling life-or-death fight. he never had to dig deep to pull out a victory. he never faced an opponent who brought out the best in him.

and his first fight with castillo was NOT that kind of fight.

I already consider him an all time great, he has skills and ability that isn't parralled by anyone present. He's had a good career, a great one at 130. However, particularly from 140 and up, he has left alot to be theorized and debated about the choices in opposition and circumstances that he made. He will go down as more of a "What could've been" story than maybe he should have left behind. For the elite fighters, alot more is asked than of a fringe champion, and I don't think he lived up to his end of the bargain as a champion.

Where does that leave Roy Jones Jr. then, who when he was finally tested crumpled in a heap of his own shame and shortcoming? This will sound cliche', but the fighters of today are nothing compared to yesteryear.

that leave jones in the "nothing but hype" category.

of course fighters of today are ******* compared to fighters of previous decades and eras. which is why its almost laughable to consider any fighter from the past 15 years an "all time great".

Roy Jones was much more than hype, those titles might seem worthless to you, but tell that to the 1000s who didn't hold that belt when he did. Jones had the potential to be an all time great, but he didn't want to take the chances that guys like Ray Robinson, Roberto Duran, and Ray Leonard did to get there.

That's kind of why he needs that type of fight, to see what happens when he is tested. Roy Jones was P4P one of the most talented fighters you will ever see, but as an overall fighter he wasn't all that great.

he had his talents and gifts, but he held those titles only cuz he fought bums. he was a hugley hyped fighter.

no offense, but what point are you trying to make? ur like praising and bashing jones at the same time.

I agree that him going out like a chump does cast a shadow on his career, and it's very hard for me to assess his greatness in light of what happened when someone put the heat on his ass.

I don't know who can give Mayweather that kind of fight that could test him right now. The talent pool in his weight range is filled with alot of B fighters like Hatton and Margarito, it isn't like Ray Leonard where he had Hearns and Hagler and Duran and Benitez, all A fighters. Roy Jones had kind of the same thing going for him as well.
