yup he'll probably beat oscar the retire and come back for a year with a dangling cash pot that awaits him if he comes out of retirement.

or he could just wanting to hype his next fight as the fight to see because he'll market it as his "last".

I think he will retire. he was crazy sincere in this video....

And like someone said above, no boxer can step away at they peak like this.... LOL thats exactly why he WILL do it, and if u think about football it has been done before i think it was Jim Brown, retired in his PEAK was real YOUNG... and started doing movies... he never did come back to football either

I honestly believe that he will fight 1 more fight which will be de la hoya, win... and retired undefeated

he wanna go out ontop, and he not gonna let what happened to roy happen to him...

He may make his fight against De La Hoya his last, but if you ask me that's the biggest mistake he could ever make. De La Hoya will kick his ass and Mayweather's streak will come to an end....

....Unless of course Oscar lays down for Mayweather in order to sign him to "Golden Boy".....

Although I can't help thinking this is all hype to try and build up an all out showdown between two great fighters (PBF and DLH) and promo it as both of their last fights. IKD. Seems a bit fishy to me.
If he does those three fights THEN retires out of boredom/lack of passion a la Michael Jordan, then he retires and comes back later when a new challenge emerges, then he will still have respectability. It is too early to retire for him at this point, when there is still an iota of accomplishment left. He could still unify the welterweight titles and do the Hatton fight(though there are weight issues that may end this possibility). DLH is ok, but its just a money maker and not decisive as to the best in the business.

He could win at 154, but there is no reason to risk the brain damage he would incur over that. He is not a natural 154 guy.

2 reasons for Mayweather's present tantrum:

#1: If he did hurt his hand he's frustrated and pissed off that he couldn't do what he knew he needed to do to step into the spotlight, in the way he wanted to be portayed; as the favorite to the big boys (DLH, Mosley)

Im sure he wanted to knock Baldomir out or at least dish out enough punishment to get a stoppage. But plannin on the KO and doin are two separate things. Not sayin he didn't dominate but I was actually surprised he didn't get the stoppage and that Baldomir was able to rough up Floyd (look at Mayweather's face postfight) and make floyd get on his bike, for his lack of speed and skill.
#2: He's just pissed because Merchant (d i c k!) had the audacity to ask him if he thought he gave a gladiator like performance that earned him the fight with a champ like DLH. I undestand him getting pissed. The adrenalines flowing, he just spanked Baldomir on a "pretty good" boxing showing. But thats where his rant should end. If he wants a legacy, a real leagacy in boxing will take more than one more fight even if he spanks DLH. He's so much like a little kid wanting mommy and daddy's attention and respect. You want respect Floyd go kick some Ass and take it! Don't blame boxing.

He's probably trying to do a Leonard and retire early, the difference is he hasn't beaten a hall of famer.

Hes just trying to pull a Ray Leonard. It hypes up the fights more when he comes out of "retirement".
