no rematch needed, no more middleweight fights for DLH needed. He fought well but was obviously at a huge physical disadvantage. I actually had the fight even, but it seemed clear that Hopkins would get him eventually. I didn't feel Oscar could keep up at that pace for 12. It was a nice gameplan for Oscar, but the physical advantages for Hopkins were too much for him.

lets see see Hopkins-Tarver and DLH-Trinidad II with the winner taking on Winky...only in my dreams probably

Spinksjinx is right. The shot that floored Oscar was suspect at best. To see DeLaHoya rithing in pain after that "punch" was shocking. I came on and said it right after the fight and after reviewing it a thousand times I am more confused than ever.

I've watched it over numerous times and I realize the effects of a punch in that area and it still doesnt look flush to me or even remotely close it was a graze! Hopkins did not dig it into his side like gatti did to dorin....Im not sure what to think other then great fight lol!

If oscar did decide to throw it, it wasnt because of politics it was because he was being broken down as a regular fighter in that fight and had no real advantage going into it....

Plus their was no cries of a rematch....No cries of excuses even though HBO tried to blame it on distractions from the hand, De la hoya denied and said the hand was not a problem.....I dont know what to think. But I have swallowed it and accept the fact that it is boxing and last night is probably the last great fight I will see in a while..regardless of the outcome....

If it's a punch that Hoya didn't see, then it doesn't need to be an incredibly hard shot. It sucks others aren't seeing the beauty of it: Hopkins throws a jab, feints with a right hand causing Oscar to avoid it by ducking over to his left, thereby exposing his right side for the perfect liver shot outside of his vision. Nard is a tactician.. he studies his opponent in the early rounds and by the 2nd half of the fight he's made the small adjustments needed to start consistently landing clean shots. You can talk about Micky Ward body shot KOs all you want cause they were nice, but this shot was great in it's own right.

Even from my limited boxing experience - De La Hoya was taking a step backward as Hopkins was coming in - That for a start puts DLH at a disadvantage as he's stomach would not be taut as it normally would when defending.

If you geta flush liver shot - Its like someone has stabbed you and your' energy is being ****** out like a balloon flying around the room if you don't tie it off properly, only faster.

Just cause the view of the shot didn't look like Gatti Dorin - It don't mean that it wasn't a good shot - We watched in slow mo a bunch of times on video and I could see the shot landing and whilst Hopkins fist didn't disapear into his rib cage ala a Tyson classic - It sure landed.

Nard had to play chess for a lot of rounds to expose the opening - I thought the whole fight was a subtle yet brutal battle of boxing intelligence that was decided in the end by size AND brains.

Oscar De La Hoya can see every punch. He fought someone bigger than himself, so he can get away with being knocked out by body punch. Everyone will believe this. No one will think it was fake because his opponent is great and bigger.

I agree the odds were against Oscar before he stepped foot in the ring, he was KO'd by the greatest middleweight since Marvin Hagler, all the other great fighters he has fought previously couldn't stop him which says alot about Oscar. He is one tough fighter who was beaten by the best pound for pound fighter on the planet.

I just watched the fight again. I saw the body shot and it was quick and dry. If you see it in slow mow,it takes away everything. Watch it normally and you see that it was very crisp. No dive. Oscar just got hurt.
