It was a great fight between two great fighters. All of people will say it didn't live up to the hype but that's because the bar was set so high with the Hagler-leonard comparisons. This fight was and should always be left by itself just like Hagler-Leonard should not be compare to any other fight or any fight should not be compare to that fight. That's the problem every big fight is compared to other fights and when it doesn't turn out the same way everyone says it failed to live up to the hype. The rematch between Morales and Barerra was a very good fight in my eyes but because of the nature in which the first fight was fought alot of people said that it didn't live up to its billing.

Ohh yeah, I definatly know what you are talking about....Personally I havent seen a better fight out of 2 GREAT fighters since taylor vs chavez....I still feel I got my 70 dollars worth, I still question what could have become of the remaining 3 rounds left

DLH-Hopkins was a bigger fight to me then hagler/leonard, just because I was like 3 years old when they fought and this is the big fight of my time between the 2 great legends, I still have more excitement watching this fight (watched it 4 times so far) then when I replay hagler/leonard.....

Dlh/hopkins and leonard/hagler showed very small similarities last night....

Hopkins was a serpent last night lol.

I dont think it was a GREAT fight individually, I'd say Kofi Jantuah stole the show...that was a GREAT KO!

As far as "the punch" I have my doubts, but maybe its b/c I had about 6 beers before the fight! lol I need to watch the replay sober next sat. -but a lot of people at the house I was watching the fight were disappointed in the fight. IMO they were average fight fans, and I understand that us hardcore fans can respect the fight, but the fight last night did nothing to attain a broader fan base IMO.

I guess boxing is a cursed sport.

        peace.

That shot that Jantuah landed was just *ouch* I never heard of Jantuah prior to this fight and only heard of the name Marco Antonio Rubio, I heard it was going to be a war. Well look what happened lol...Rubio was out cold before he hit the canvas well actually before his neck snapped back, that was a vicious hook....Jantuah seemed kind of ****y kind of like lennox lewis, but I guess that is just confidence...I would be as well, if I knocked a champion out in 33 seconds *ouch*

I realize a lot of people were disappointed in the main event, but everyone wants a war and they think a traditional boxing match is dull (that speaks for the public.) You cant please everybody but the true boxing fans most likely think they got their dollars worth.

Jantuah knocked out Daniel Santos as well. I heard alot about Rubio before this fight but I had never seen him in the ring. It looked like it was going to be a good fight until Jantuah thought otherwise.

I saw Oscar dominate the early rounds and even made Bernard brush off his chin after a jab. And his flurries were causing problems for Hokins when he tried to get close to Oscar. That was smart on his part and I was impressed. I dunno why he stopped moving again.

His flurries were nice but they werent well connected, I seen a few good shots but most either missed or grazed...I think I know what you are talking about with bernard and his chin, Bernard took a few good shots from DLH as did de la hoya from hopkins...It was a tactical war not a slugfest We need more fights like last nights.

How does everyone else feel about a rematch?????

I dont think it should be ruled out and would pay to see it again....Nothing to lose for either fighters last night or if they decided to do it again....However Hopkins has some business with Jones, but Tarver is calling hopkins name....It is going to be a good few months, I hope we have a fight locked up sometime happening in january or february and not until next summer or spring.

I don't think a rematch is needed. Hopkins is always going to be Delahoya. I'd rather just leave it the way it is now. On ESPN News Tarver and Hopkins were face to face and said they would fight only if the money is right. Hopkins also said he wants his 20 defense before anything but if a big fight came up and the money was too good to miss he would go for the big fight.

Valid points, With hopkins and tarver that is a weird matchup and I think negotiations would get in the way, with weight issues and financial issues....Tarver would demand more money for knocking out jones and hopkins would demand more for knocking out Oscar De La Hoya, So I dont see that coming into the light anytime soon....However I do believe a possible matchup with Roy is now likely possible, I guess Roy Jones has said that he will come down and fight hopkins....

That is the best fight on the table right now in any division....

Let Tarver go fight a heavyweight like James Toney to keep himself busy for a while.....

Featherweight to Middleweight has some serious matchups that need to be made and are looking likely to happen....

                    Jones vs Hopkins
                    Mosley vs wright
                    barrera vs morales
Pacquaio vs Any preferably top 3 feathweights
                    Mayweather vs tszyu
                    Mayweather vs Gatti
                    Trinidad vs Mayorga
                    Trinidad vs De La Hoya
                    Jermain Taylor vs Eastman
                    Ouma vs philips
                    Spinks vs Judah
                    Corrales vs ????

With a list like this it kind of makes you forget about the mediocre divisons of the north.

The first 6 rounds were all very close. After 8, I had it 4-4. Rounds 1, 2 & 3 to De La Hoya, 4 & 5 to Hopkins, 6 to De La Hoya... then 7 & 8 to Hopkins.

De La Hoya barely squeaked by in the 4 rounds I had him winning, especially the 6th. Hopkins was an obvious winner of rounds 7 & 8 and the beginning of the end was apparent.

I'm glad it didn't go to the cards... the judges' scoring was quite "off".
