My view on the fight and my scorecard.

Ok first off here is my scorecard.

The first scores with the 12 rounds is with the sound On and broadcasted live, the second set is with the sound off...As you can see huge change.

Now, wow where to begin.....I believe the fight lived up to everything and anything expected, I went into watching this fight unbiased and grateful for just a winner.

Dlh seemed to throw a lot of flurries and combinations while they looked good having reviewing the tape in slow motion and without sound, A LOT! of these punches did not land and while the crowd was cheering and the announcers ranting it did look good but the fact is a lot of these did not land.

Bernard Hopkins seemed to keep dlh at bay just popping his jab and then coming forward this was nice as bernard hit DLH with some good flush shots....Their was a look of *wtf am I doing here* on oscars face when those punches connected.

Watching it live I thought it was a damn close fight and my scorecard was a draw. but reviewing it without the people at my house blabbering and sitting alone Hopkins turned out to still be the dominant fighter, by keeping dlh away with his jab and coming forward and allowing DLH to come forward when hopkins would allow.

The "mystic" punch as I am going to call it from hopkins, did not look devastating to me on TV infact I rewinded it about a thousand times last night and still couldnt see it being flush, why? Well because the bottom of the palm connected with oscar not the fist, Simple as that. Im not saying that this was some fixed fight but it didnt look that clean, However it did get the job done and that was what was needed. Viewing it back in silence oscar was being punished out their!

The Ending and post interviews was tremendous both of these fighters have gotten and earned my utmost respect. The fact that the crowd and hbo still didnt give any props to hopkins burns in my stomach as Bernard looked triumphant in the beginning but at the end looked like a bully beating a little boy. Major respect to DLH for throwing out what Larry merchant try to say and say the hand was a distraction and DLH saying no it wasnt, Hopkins landed the perfect punch. I cant believe Oscar took it without any excuses and that burns in my stomach and made me emotional almost bringing tears to my eyes and still does as writing this.

Both fighters showed respect before the fight, during the fight and After the fight.

Overall coming from an unbiased viewer this fight was A GREAT FIGHT!

It lived up to everything I had wished for and a opportunity like this only comes every few decades as fighters have to establish themselves to this level....

Also Oscar De La Hoya looks nothing like a middleweight, still being a trim and fit 155 he still looked pudgy, Oscar move down and clean house....140 needs it.

Bernard Hopkins go right after Jones make your record squeaky clean and smack out Tarver if you can and retire as one of the greatest Boxers in the past 20 years....Your legacy is established and will not be broken!

My hats off to Oscar De La Hoya and Bernard Hopkins, both of you two gentleman have a new fan standing in your shadows!

    God Bless you both!

I have yet to watch the fight a second time but I had it close 4 to 3 with one even for Hopkins and there is no doubt Hopkins was going to win but I don't believe Oscar was getting punished in the ring last night. He did enough to hold his own in my eyes and was never hurt or stunned up until the body shot.

He didn't completely turn the punch over, but it certainly didn't land with the bottom of the palm. It was a clean punch that Oscar didn't see and the body punch Hopkins landed a second before hurt DLH too.

And I scored it 5-2-1 for Hopkins, becoming increasingly dominant. Lampley and especially Merchant were slobbin all over Oscar's nuts.. you almost have to put it on mute.

Merchant kept saying DLH was beating Hopkins to the punch, even when he wasn't throwing anything. Somehow, he had DLH winning the fight 4-1 going into the 6th. Lampley, as usual, was getting excited over punches that weren't landing (see the end of round 2). Luckily Manny balanced things out a little bit. Lord knows what type of nut fondling we would have seen if Foreman was still commentating.

My score was identical to Ledderman so I didn't think there was favoring from HBO. But if they really said those, that's funny.

Lederman scored the fight exactly as I did as well, though I guess Round 3 was a toss-up but I gave it to Hopkins.

I would say my score aloud and a minute later it would show up on the screen.

mic573-Not taking anything away from your opinion because I respect it, but oscar had this look on his face when bernard hit him like wow, this is the big boys....Oscar wasnt punished physically but I think mentally it took a toll on him....If you havent watched the fight with the sound off please do and tell me what you think, I had it a draw live and bernard dominating watching replays.

Atman-It looked to me it slipped a little but the camera still didnt show a decent enough angle to get the full feel of how it came along....None the less that same punch devastated 1 good boxer and another Legend in the ring, so im not discrediting it one bit. Had oscar landed the same punch the outcome could have been the same, I wont take anything away from oscar or bernard or your opinions, the camera angle was just shotty for the fight as I was seeing the refs back a lot in the camera.....

I'll watch it without the sound but what I see the first time rarely changes when I see it again unless I had been drinking which I did not last night. I'm not doubting Bernard could of been winning by a wider margin. This fight kind of reminds me of the Mosley rematch in the way it could be scored. I say this though Bernard did miss alot of punches himself.

Ohh yeah Bernard didnt land many, but Hopkins wasnt throwing flurries either like De la hoya, Bernard controlled Oscar with his jab in some rounds and De La Hoya couldnt get around it....Im not even going to pick a side, this fight was great to me and I cant judge either fighter both of them fought great fights....Nice to see a GREAT boxing match as opposed to brawls and keep it entertaining.
