Why not? If you can't have a fight in America. Besides, the big money fights for the lower weight classes is in Japan. Boxing is BIG IN JAPAN at the moment.


Sure, there were controversial losses to gai-jin fighters (Jose Navarro, Heriberto Gejon, Juan Landaeta). But, there were convincing wins as well, Christian Mijares and Rudy Lopez went back to Mexico as champions.


The thing is - you gotta win convincingly when you're on the road, not fight half-heartedly and expect the judges to lean for you, like what happened to Gejon. Kameda-Landaeta was a very tight affair, it could've gone either way.


Larios has at least 3 fights in Japan, Martin Castillo also fought there (and clearly lost his title to 7-0 noob Nobuo Nashiro btw), long-time WBC Bantamweight champ Veeraphol Sahaprom never fights outside of Thailand but he went there. Edwin Valero (sure, he can't fight in the US) and Jorge Linares are now promoted by Teiken. Why would they opt to fight there? The money is good.

good point. in japan always go for the kill or for that matter anywhere you go. be aggressive for you not to give them a reason or an alibi when they you over.
