    Saw some Kessler fights..

    Cummings and Porras.

He seems very sound, nothing spectacular, nothing special, but very sound. He controls things with his jab, has strong focus.. he's a fast, compact puncher and always brings his hand back in guard very fast. I like his short left hook, rarely misses and really difficult to counter.

He'd be totally overwhelmed by the prime Calzaghe of 10 years ago or five years ago though. He might beat the extremely weakened Calzaghe at 168 these days, but at 175 Joe takes him out. I hope Calzaghe fights Woods next and then gives Kessler a shot at 175, because he's too weakened to fight well at 168 these days.

Btw, Kessler dealt with Cummings and Porras every bit as well as Steve Collins and Carl Froch did respectively.

I'd pick Jurgen Brahmer and Carl Froch to take Kessler.

Brahmer was considered to be the best prospect EVER in Germany, until he got thrown in jail. He's back on track now though. He has a great variety of punches and was the only guy to beat Hatton cleanly in the amateurs (twice I might add).

Froch was the first British fighter to ever win a medal at the senior world championships, and that Magee fight was enough for me - anybody who can produce a right uppercut like that in round 11 of such a hard-fought super-middleweight championship fight is special.

That uppercut could have ended a marriage.

But the fight was a little too close for my liking, I expected Froch to blow him out alot sooner..

I just think Froch is dangerous. I've never seen him hurt, never seen him tired. His chin has never let him down and neither has his power. And he's so awkward, leaping in from out of punching range with alsorts of shots from silly angles or luring you in with that low-slung left and ****ing your head about with counters.

Trust me, Froch is dangerous. It wouldn't suprise me if the guy took Kessler and Calzaghe which he says he plans on doing next year.

The more I look at it, and the fact that Calzaghe's potential, which we in the UK always saw but was never properly exposed, his career has been so terribly mismanaged.

Warren's never capitalized on his talent by publicizing him properly. His performance stole the show from Tyson in Denmark, yet it was years still that you even heard of Calzaghe making a move. If not for Lacy's willingness to make a unification, the world at large would still have been ignorant of Calzaghe's quality.

I think that as he was coming up, he believed very much in his power, but as he became champion, he realized that he was not as concussive and tempered his taunting somewhat. Either that or he just became more satisfied and didn't feel the need to be as arrogant as he was in his British title days.

Kessler is nothing extraordinary, but very solid all the way across the board, and definitely a bit of business for Calzaghe to clear up. However, having been undoubtedly the number one at 168 for so long, I wonder of people will allow Joe a pass on Kessler to take on a superstar name like Hopkins if that can be done.

At the end of the day, Calzaghe is the best in his division of the last 10 years by miles.. so Kessler should feel honoured and privaleged if Calzaghe gave him a shot.

But could anybody blame Calzaghe if he chose Bernard Hopkins at Madison Square Garden at light-heavyweight over Mikkel Kessler in Denmark at super-middleweight?

Kessler would have to concede territory on this one. Don't know if HBO would be able to build it up as much in the US, but would likely do a good gate in England or Wales.

Hopkins should just leave it out. I think he proved more than one point against Tarver. He was a better fighter than Tarver, and that he is better than most of the style over substance merchants like Tarver these days.

                    I sure hope not..

Calzaghe gets a chance of leaving smw as the worlds best, and Kessler getīs to prove what heīs been saying all along.
                    Lets get it on.
