    Kessler and his overnight fans

Put your hands up if you've seen more than ONE Kessler fight? Okay... all six of you can sit at the back for the rest of this thread.

The fact that this forum seems to be getting behind this guy since Saturday says to me that people are, at best, naive for believing in a guy after ONE fight. At worst - as most of those threads seem to be suggesting that Calzaghe is "scared" of him - it comes over as sour g****s. Or, as one particular poster might put it, it's "spytefullll."

I love the Joe Blow story on this forum... a world champ that reigns for nine years yet is largely ignored or derided. Then when he gets a shot with an opponent who isn't a "bum" (by virtue of the fact that people have heard of him... strange how that works, innit?) he's predicted to get KO'd early... even though at least 50% of the people making such predictions had never even seen one fight of his, or bothered to do any research. Not even download a single fight.

Then we get the begrudging praise, and now all of a sudden before we've even heard anything about a unification match-up, it's back to The Blow "fearing" people. "fearing". As in, the sort of thing you'd say when you're five years old.

It's about time we got SERIOUS about discussing boxing in here. No "haters", "nuthuggers" or "ownage". And no opening your yap unless you know whereof you speak. (Minimum requirement: watch THREE fights of EACH boxer before you start with the yap yap yap).

This happened, come to terms with it:

Well i'm one of the six who was supposed to sit back and shut up. Can't do dat.

Another explanation for the sudden change is that for the first time a lot of ppl were actually exposed to Kessler. They liked what they saw and quite a few took the oppertunity to check out a few more bits on YouTube or whereever. So perhaps for the first time we actually have a somewhat informed debate about Kessler involving more than a few ppl.

Add to that that the Bika fight cleared away some of the remnants of post-Lacy euforia surrounding Calzaghe. (Well you actually say pretty much the same - just another choice of words).

What you see as hype, to me is a more informed debate than before.

I hope that's the case. I really do.

But in my experience, it won't be, in the main.

You either have too high an opinion of the posters on here, or are happy that there is now a Kessler bandwagon outside of Denmark.

Iv liked Kessler ever since the lead up to him fighting Mundine, I watched a few of hes fights to see if Mundine had any chance, and being so im a Danny Green fan, and if you're from Western Australia and a Danny Green fan you would most likely hate Mundine (he got bottled at are hometown ever since then they serve plastic cups lol), so i wanted to see him lose badly so seeing Kessler crush Mundine made me a new fan.

But not only that I respect Kessler he is a great boxer has a wonderful jab powerful and quickhands, I also like Joe Calzaghe too dont get me wrong but just because I think Kessler can beat Calzaghe doesnt mean I cannot have my oppinion without being told by all of Calzaghe's fans that i just jump on the bandwagon..

Im sorry to say but most Calzaghe fans are being hyprocritical right now when ever someone says something bad about Calzaghe you guys go off, but It seems to be okay for you guys to talk bad about Kessler.

I finally watched the whole Kessler-Beyer fight this morning thanks to jangeorg's youtube (there's also a dl in the video forum for anyone remaining who has not seen it), and since I don't have to sit in the back I'll say one unhateful thing. He is fast, powerful and talented but there is no way of telling how he will react to a whole different creature in Calzaghe. Even if you've see a handful of Kessler fights (and there are that many available through the resources of this site) you can't tell whether he can beat Calzaghe because he's destroyed these other guys with jab-jab 1-2. Calzaghe's singular style and timing will present a change so don't everybody get so certain of the outcome.

I'm a Kessler fan, but I definitely agree with you, Calzaghe's a way bigger challenge than Beyer. It goes both ways though. Just because Calzaghe outclassed Lacy, doesn't mean he can do the same to Kessler. Kessler's a totally different fighter than Lacy. The only way to really tell, is to get them in the ring.

Hey Anorak, how many people outside of Britain were on the Calzaghe bandwagon before the Lacy fight? Seems to me the respect he's gotten lately came off of ONE fight as well....

I think if you took a general consensus (not that I'm claiming to speak for the country) then most believed it was a 50-50 fight, but that it may have come a little late in Joe's career... possibly. As opposed to the consensus on this forum which was that Lacy would "pwn his ***gy ass, LMAO!"
