When the other guy is a WBC champion who gets dropped like a sack of potatoes, from a near perfect punch?

9 minutes is a lot better than 0 minutes. And those few minutes have sparked a lot of traffic to YouTube and other places where you can find more.

But sure - it would be preferable if everybody had seen 25+ Kessler fights. I would love that. Though it would loose a bit of the exclusiveness that has come with being a Kessler fan up 'till now.

It gave me quite a chuckle when Lacy mentioned that his trainer Dan Birmingham was a "great analyst." Yeah, right! And afterward his trainer, his manager and promoter claimed they were surprised by the outcome. I have to admit I was surprised too. I thought Calzaghe would knock him out if Lacy fought his usual fight.

I remember people comparing Lacy to a young Mike Tyson, but the fact is Tyson had a much better style. Lacy had too many easy fights where his opponents just stood in front of him and providing an easy target for his firepower. He never learned how to track them down and hit them. Lacy was nothing more than a dumbass headhunter with minimal boxing skills. He can claim otherwise but the fight against Calzaghe exposed him.

There have been many thousands of boxers who have been the victims of bad training and bad management. Jeff Lacy is one of them.

Dan Birmingham has had lacy and wright for a long time, so i think he knows what hes doing. Your only saying "OMG YEA RIGHT HES NOT A GOOD ANALYST" because of the outcome of one fight. How about all the other times hes guided those fighters to wins, especially wright. Im pretty sure something was wrong with lacy because he was extremely lethargic and he didint look like himself from round 1 on, but thats his own problem, but you dont put that on Birmingham, thats rediculous. He was telling him the right things in the corner, what else is his supposed to do?

What else is he supposed to do?

I have seen trainers screaming and raving at fighter in the corner many hundreds of times, I have yet to see it accomplish anything. Did you hear Manny Steward cursing and swearing at Vivian Harris? These problems need to be resolved in the gym not in the ring. Lacy had always been a headhunter in the past, and he believed that headhunting would be successful against Calzaghe. Bad habits are not easily broken. If Birmingham had been any kind of trainer he would have solved that problem years ago. The success that Lacy and Wright achieved in boxing was not because of Birmingham, it was despite Birmingham.
