    Is Valuev a weak puncher?

He floored Barret about 6 times, 3 of which were counted as KDs.

    Wladimir floored Barret 5 times.

    Messi floored Barret 1 time.

It seems that Valuev can punch if he chooses so, like that "killer punch" in round 11 in the Barret fight, but for some reason he prefers to win by outboxing his opponents.

He has a hard punch but not a snappy, exposive, knockout punch. He bludgeons his opponents until they can no longer get up. The guy is definitely not a weak puncher.

He can punch hard because he weighs so much but I don't think he punches his weight.

If he had more hand speed and snap and put his hips and shoulders into it more I think he would be smashing his opponents into the canvas!!

Saying that his camp know all of this so I feel this is as good as it gets and lets be fair what he has works well in this current climate, I only wish that there was another big box/puncher fighter like say a Lewis around because they would take him apart IMO.

He punches slow which just allows people to get out of the way. I doubt many can stand up to a flush shot from him.

If he punched his weight like say Dempsey punched his weight he would be caving in skulls and turning the bones in his hand into jelly. George Foreman at 220 rarely punched with all of his weight. It would be impossible for Valuev, who weighs 320, to do the same.

Regardless of his weight, his punches have a strong effect on his opponents. I agree, he could get a little more of his weight into his punches, but he'll never be a knockout artist in the mold of Louis, Dempsey, Tyson, etc.

I think he is has a weak shot for his size but that does not mean much it is still a hard ass shot by anyones standards I would think............He has a cinder block head too........while we all know Barrett is not a real big puncher he landed some winging hard shots that just seem to stun Valuev very breifly and thats it.........I would love to see Valuev/Peter or Briggs or something.I have to admit too for my first time watching an entire Valuev fight.............He is not as bad as I thought.

Enough to hurt, you but doesn't execute his punches like a former Tyson, Foreman, etc...

he more so "drops" the weight of his arms when he throws his punches....rather than twirk his body into "extra" power behind them...

if he did that, his punches would be even slower...

again, enough to hurt you and push you, but no executed in a way to bomb you

Good point, I weigh a lot less than Valuev (who doesn't?) but broke my hands several times and then had to concentrate more on arm punching, I suppose if he landed a flush full blown shot his hands would either fill up with fluid or just crumble!
