seriously though, i respect gatti a lot but his fans take things too far.

'oh there will never be another fighter like him'

umm, bobby chacon, ray mancini, matthew saad muhammad, erik morales, iran barkley, manny pacquiao, aaron pryor, etc???

all very exciting fighters who were better than gatti.

morales has been more exciting than gatti this decade anyway.

Can anyone fill his shoes? No, in the sense that the influx of sons of Italian Immigrants is over and that there will never be another Lamotta or Graziano or Carmen Basilio. But in the sense of his entertainment value, yes, but not for some time.

Gatti is a special guy, a fighter who fought with his balls than his mind. What seperated him from other fighters was his flair for the dramatic, and his ability to knock an opponent out with one shot.

We have fighters today, we've always had them, that could lose and still retain their fanbases. Guys like Morales, Barrera, Pacquiao, and many others will always be able to keep our attention and adulation with the way they fought, not the results. There may never be another guy quite like Gatti. Atleast we can always have his tapes and watch him anytime we feel like.

who cares how many nicknames he has?

he's one of many exciting fighters. he wasn't the first nor will he be the last.

i don't fall for that hbo hype about him being so rare and the last of a dying breed.

i watch boxing and see a number of entertaining fighters with huge hearts.

First off Corrales does have Gatti's courage/balls. How can anyone ever question Corrales courage? He got up 5 times against PBF before that fight was stopped, how much heart is there for a fighter to get up that many times.

Corrales also got up from being floored by Casamayor in there first fight and went on to put Casa on his back in that same round. Also with a badly cut lip Corrales was begging the ref and doctor for 1 more round does anyone doubt he would've went balls out that round if allowed to continue.

Then the coup de grace' was the Castillo fight. To me Corrales is better than Gatti because he has the same courage/ball however he also has the better talent and what he does is against world class and elite fighters.

Augustus is just like Gatti but without the PR machine behind him.

Your right these fighters will never replace Gatti for mainstream recognition but I dont need a sunday columnist or ESPN broadcaster to tell me who is a warrior and whom I should root for.
gatti doesnt spit out his mouthpiece to get a breather. gatti doesnt file lawsuits to avoid people he should fight. gatti doesnt back out of fights cuz some1's bigger or heavier than him.

im not saying corrales doesnt have balls or doesnt have courage, he and gatti have the most heart of any other fighter in the world today. but gatti's a real warrior. he doesnt cheat, file lawsuits, he doesnt back out and he doesnt back off, and he doesnt make excuses.

'sides, corrales says hes gonna retire in a couple of years anyway, so hes not gonna replace gatti.

that's because gatti is the one who's on the other side of the scale controversies.

instead of suing, he gets sued for not making weight and having the nysac back him up.

corrales also fights way better opposition
