Can anyone fill Gatti's shoes?

Can anyone tell me when Gatti picked up the "blood and guts warrior" title to his intro? I agree with it totally, of course, because Gatti is awesome. Just curious, as I haven't followed too much of his career. Was it after a peticular fight, or just something the media tagged on him?Comment

Teron, a tough Puerto Rican kid from the Bronx, thrilled New York fight fans during his amateur days with his brawling style that will be sure to make him a fan favorite as a pro. Observers have noted that he fights like a refined and well-schooled Arturo Gatti

Actually if you just look a little down south you will see there are a few Gatti like fighters.
Morales, Cotto, Augustus, Corrales and Arce. They are all fighters who willingly give one to take one.
The biggest stretch out of that group is Cotto who isn't Gatti like UNTIL he appears hurt or if an opponent lands a good punch, then Cotto seems to abandon all boxing and grappling and brawl.
augustus is a side-show, albeit an entertaining one.
morales, cotto, and arce just dont have gatti's come-from-behind ability.
dont mistake me, these fighters are exciting and entertaining in their own way. but they will never ever replace arturo gatti.Comment

corrales doesnt have gatti's courage/balls.

Corrales also got up from being floored by Casamayor in there first fight and went on to put Casa on his back in that same round. Also with a badly cut lip Corrales was begging the ref and doctor for 1 more round does anyone doubt he would've went balls out that round if allowed to continue.
Then the coup de grace' was the Castillo fight. To me Corrales is better than Gatti because he has the same courage/ball however he also has the better talent and what he does is against world class and elite fighters.
Augustus is just like Gatti but without the PR machine behind him.
Your right these fighters will never replace Gatti for mainstream recognition but I dont need a sunday columnist or ESPN broadcaster to tell me who is a warrior and whom I should root for.Comment
