  • slugfest sparring session I had last week (high-quality video)

all during the day i was expecting to spar a new guy, but a guy from the 14th st gym, john, came instead. I thought it was a newcomer but his coach came in and said he was looking to spar another heavyweight. I was the only heavyweight in there so my coach was like 'okay, stretch and get the headgear.' he weighed 220 lbs. 6 ft 6 with a long reach. he told me he had 3 fights and no losses. i havent had my first fight yet, still trying to lose weight and get a little more stamina before i do that. a month ago I was 250-255, i gained a little weight back due to problems with g/f etc, so now im like 260. but when I started boxing 5 months ago, i weighed 320.

so, i should have really expected what happened, to have happened. He had like 4 friends there with him, so I shouldve expected him to come out hard in the 1st like he did, I was expecting him to feel me out and work on my slipping...he had a quick right hand though and nailed me pretty good early on, which is when I threw my game plan out the door and started swinging for the fences on him..

When just boxing a guy will not work it is good to have the BALLS to just go for it. Not every man can do that.

You still use some caution but there is nothing wrong with having to turn it into a back alley brawl. Do what ya gotta do.

      Rockin'

Hahha, cool stuff man! I like agressive style heavyweight. You can save the division! Though seriously, looks like you got some nice stamina for your weight and whatnot. Funny music and damn, I thought the ring at my gym was a piece of ****, though I think yours takes the cake.

Oh yeah, are either of you wearing boxing shoes? My trainer wouldn't let us in the ring without them. Do you feel yourself getting tired everytime you push the guy off? Because to me, I'd imagine that would sap a lot of energy out of you constantly pushing him off. Do you realize that? Does it effect your stamina?
