i think he is a decent boxer and he can learn more technique, but his size also plays against him, he cant be as fast or effective as other figthers, but if he improves his convos, and stays in the outside he can easily out-jab and wear down any HW right now

if winning the title has made valuev serious about being a fighter (judging by his last outing against owen what the **** beck), he might actually be on his way to throwing effective combos... but who knows, the guy is a freak, and freaks are unpredictable.

if valuev strung together more combos with more frequency, he would risk punching himself out for a short while. judging by the way he moves, he is using what is most comfortable and most effective for him.

you may have a point and had good insite and normally I could agree with you but I really think that he could put combos together not through out the fight but in spots that would win him rounds or put his opponent in trouble or out. he ain't no floyd or diaz but he can do it enough through out a fight to be effective doing it with out to much drain on stamina. He does have excilent pace which is a plus and good combos would not take to much away from that but would only make him more effective when he does decide to move his hands. You could be right but I just don't think so MHO

not in my opinion. he could throw his arm out trying to do nothing but or mostly jabbing. his jab just doesn't seem to have the necessary snap and since he is not quite quick with his lead punch, i'd see him having trouble with a lot of boxers who have some idea of ring mobility. mostly, the only thing he has going for his jab is his size and that he can throw a stiff jab.

i actually thought of that while typing that up. if he could put a good 1-2, or a nice 1-2-3 together at the right moments more often, it would certainly help him take care of guys a bit more efficiently. however, i also feel that he may be much more vulnerable to getting countered than shorter, quicker fighters when it comes to tying more than 2 punches together.

i agree - he does have a good sense of pacing himself. anyways, there is always room for improvement.
