Jones has never beaten 'The Man' in a division.

He beat Thomas Tate (who?) for the Middleweight title.

Shortly moving up to SMW to beat James Toney, the man who regarded himself as 'the man' in the division, but in reality, he himself was unproven.

He stayed there for a couple of years, beat mediocre competition (not necessarily his fault).

He then moved up to the only division he can truly say he was the man at (arguably, nobody's forgetting Dariusz Michalczewski) but funnily enough, only as Tiozzo was moving up to Cruiser, coincidence? possibly. Lost by DQ to Montell Griffin, beat upon more mediocre competition, moved up to beat the weakest heavyweight champion. (Why not Lennox, Roy?)

That's where his story ends, he lost twice to Tarver, only twice on the scorecards, and got KO'd by Glen Johnson, both of whom were embarressed by Hopkins, which to me, taints the latter of Jones' career.
Jones beat 16 world champs and 15 of them he made them look ordinary including Toney and Hopkins. Calzaghe neven beaten any great fighter. Roy Jones was the man, no. 1 on every p4p list on his prime. His losses came past his prime. CAlzaghe is 34 now, not a single great fighter in his list.

Ok, so the last 'great' fighter he fought was in 1994.

That's 10 years (Over half of his career) of mediocre competition.

        Of course.

Exactly the same argument, numbers speak for themselves.
that depends who you ask. it is not at all unanimous that Roy is one of the greatest ever. Far from it.

Mediocre competition? Beating Tarver, Woods, Gonzales, Johnson, Griffin, Virgil Hill, Sosa is more then what Calzaghe done at this point. If that's mediocre , what about Calzaghe?

              What about him?

Roys accomplishments surpass Calzaghes, whether he fought the man or not, he was still champ at multiple weight divisions, but not to the point where he deserves to be in the HOF and Calzaghe doesn't.

Calzaghe has been the 'man to beat' at SMW for a long time.

It takes this back to the whole unified and defending champion vs multiple division champion.

Roy Jones beat James Toney and Bernard Hopkins

Joe Calzaghe beat a shot Chris Eubank

                  Not really comparable

So if you consider Roy accomplishment mediocre after beating Toney. what about describing Calzaghe accomplishment at this point? **** outta here
