Amigos - an uncompromising crowd/How did the judge have Barrios winning?

I had it 119-109, with Barrios just taking the final stanza and having a share of another round. I may have been a little overgenerous, but I think a judge having Barrios the winner of that fight was an outrageous bordering on scandalous. Golden Boy Promotions don't need the whiff of this around them, particularly as this entire fight card was inspired by an earlier controversial decision. This was Guzman's coming out party, and wasn't he magnificent?

As for poor old Barrera, while people had paid to see a war, seeing their hero pitch a virtual shut out on the back foot and make Juarez look like an amateur throughout (wasn't he dreadful?) should have been enough. A shame, as with a different (non-booing) soundtrack that could have been one of the Amigo performances of the later stages of his career.

Oh, hate to say it, but did Vasquez take Gonzalez's heart? You could see in his eyes the guy didn't really want to continue.

I had it 118-111 for Guzman and that's as generous as I could get.

The three undercards were alot better than the main event, those being Guzman/Barrios, Vasquez/Gonzalez and Paez/Campos.

Vasquez eventually got to Gonzalez, I'm surprised he pulled through and actually got to him, seeing as he got his ears boxed off for the first half of the fight.

The booing pretty much pissed me off, this is Barrera's career, he got the job done, the crowd got their moneys worth with the under cards, the reason the first fight was so controversial is because he did alot more 'crowd pleasing'.

It's his job, his legacy, let him get on with it.

Oh, and Paez Jr won't make it to the big stage.

I was impressed with his chin until the final ten seconds. I don't actually see the controversy of the verdict though... the best Campos could have got was a draw.

I scored it a draw, but Campos couldn't have won, maybe he deserved the draw.. but that truly was a weird night of judging.

I can't see how Paez won the first round either, but there wasn't any knockdowns (In the first round) so I can't dispute his win.

I had the first to Paez... Campos threw ISTR about three good punches, but that's all. Paez was boxing him for the rest of it. Or at least that's what I think I saw... it was 2am over here at the time.

It was 2am over here, too.

I must admit I was only wide awake during the Guzman fight, I guess the first round could have gone either way, but I thought Paez got clipped too many times with that left hook.. that's the first time I've ever saw him dazed.

Maybe him and Khan could get it on?

I'm not a big fan of Khan, but I'd have my money on him.

Interesting concept... that'd be a fight to see.

I actually fell asleep during rounds 9 & 10 of the Barrera fight. I was enjoying it, but it was nearly 5am by that stage.

I didn't score it round by round, but I thought it was pretty obvious Juan Guzman was winning the fight by a wide margin, controlling the pace, getting off hurtful shots while hardly taking anything back etc. From time to time it even looked as though Guzman could stop Jorge Barrios if he had have wanted to. The judging was terrible really. In the Barrera-Juarez fight too they had two judges score it 115-113 which was baffling.
