    Dempsey beats anybody

Jack Dempsey could run right over these laughable apes we call professional boxers. He won the title at 187 and there isn't one oversized and overrated heavyweights that could last 12 rounds with him, if they came to fight. Of course they don't usually come to fight, they just show up for their paycheck. That is Firpo you see on the canvass, but it just just as easily be Klitschko, Maskaev, Valuev or anybody else.

Its hard to say that he would take a punch from Klitschko, Valuev or any of the super heavyweights. A lot of guys now are much larger and stronger than fighters back then, but guys like Dempsey were better conditioned, overall better.

Did Dempsey took a dive against Jim Flynn or simply got knockout? It's hard to believe Dempsey got knockout by 5'9 short and sturdy Fireman Flynn.

Dempsay should not be mentioned in the same breath as modern fighters. He must be one of the tiniest men I have ever seen.

The only reason that he is mentioned is due to Wladimir Klitschko - glass Wlad - being a champ.

Dempsay KO glass Wlad 1. No-one argues with this.

But compare Dempsay to a decent man sized man, and his china chin gets cracked EARLY.

Hell, a ****ing fireman knocked him COLD!

It's extremely ****** IMO to compare heavyweights then to the heavyweights today if they were under 200 lb's.

Because they would be Cruiserweights today.

The size and weight difference is everything these days u see men get ko'd these days because of weight differences good fighters who find their opponents too strong for them. Dempsey is a great fighter one of the greatest but for his time these days he wouldnt be able to mach size or even the power of the modern heavy weights. Im not sayin they would all beat him he would prove too muck for some of them but the champions would beat him only due to size.

Jack could take a good shot but any one could be ko'd at any time by any fighter back in those days because of those gloves they wore.

Dempsey really wasn't that small, but since his weight wasn't high people tend to have this perception...he could easily add weight, but I don't think he had it in his mind that he should since he was used to fighting at that specific weight...this is a weight that he fought at while just fighting for food.

For the Flynn fight, I read that he didn't eat for a couple of days, so he didn't have the energy to fight, and basically was passing out on his way to the ring...not sure how true the story is.

If you look at his upper body measurements, and look at pictures, he is broad.

When he put on weight when not fighting, his frame was able to hold the weight nicely.

I am also not sure if it was his manager telling him to stay under 200lbs...I read an article that said that Foreman's people wanted him to stay below 230 so that his stamina would be good enough to last 12 full rounds

Joe Louis vs Max Baer, Primo Carnera

Tyson and especially Holyfield, weren't the biggest guys...the one advantage they had over some other small guys was their bone structure...even Tua, who is not very tall, is thick as mother-fu#%#!...Chris Byrd was another one, great chin, and it helped being very skilled

I agree though, some of these guys of yesterday are just to small
