    Following Boxing ...

Ive been boxing for about 7 months now. And its been hard!

Ive lost weight and feel alot stronger. But sparring and fighting in the ring isnt my cup of tea.

I keep getting hit. and i think they just 'use me' as a sparring partner. I mean im up against some top guys. But its hard coz im 5"11 180lbs. So they just put me agaisnt big hitters. And i dont like it when they hit me hard in the face. I always seem to turn my head. However on good days ive held my own in sparring.

Would I be considered a ***** if I stopped boxing and just went to a gym to stay in trim? I still want to follow boxing. Just not take part. Im really debating this as im going to Uni soon.

I mean i think ive learnt alot from boxing in that time. At least ill be able to look after myself on the street if i need too.

Question remains. Can you follow boxing if you dont train and sparr?

Of course you can. Boxing is a spectator sport first and foremost.

You think Thomas Hauser takes a couple of shots in the face before writing his fiftieth book about Ali?

Always liked boxing, never been interested in getting punched in the face for it.

u wouldnt be a ***** at all. taking a beating isnt exactly fun.

but if can relax more in there, u'd find urself fighting a lot better.

im sure those good days that u have, are the days that u feel the most comfortable and relaxed in the ring

and if u've won a boxing match, and ur fighting someone on the street who never boxed, u'd probably kick his ass

u cant be a serious critic if u've never stepped into the ring. thats my opinion. anyone whos boxed knows what im talking about.

its kinda insulting when a guy who has NEVER set foot in a ring, is tryin give u advice and tell u what u did wrong... u know?

I mean i love watching it on tv. but i feel there just "USING ME" to train up there 'registered' fighters. now why should i take un-nessessary punches just like a shooting range!

When i have been relaxed in the ring i havent kicked ass ive been alot looser and have landed more.

its just that after todays sparring. my head was hurting and i didnt enjoy my dinner.

While I agree, there are too many punks out there without any kind of mental faculties that think just because they've had a couple of fights it makes them writers.

Take Boxing4Rednecks. That guy could be a pro with 20 bouts under his belt, he'd still be an idiot. You know what I mean?

some ppl actually thought it was cool that i did boxing. but they dont know what its like. i love the training part of things its just the fighting im not to sure about.

i dont come from a fighting background and i dont think i can be "shaped" into a fighter.

i mean i just want a degree and a good ***ing job.

i know exactly what u mean. u gotta know how to write, with some good experience under ur belt.

its a rare combo, but those are most of the top boxing writers
