Yeah, I dont think this decision will get over turned. I think the only way a decision could get overturned is if a fighter could prove the judges were paid or benefited from the decision they gave.

If they didn't overturn Lewis vs Holyfield 1 which was an even worse decision, then they wont overturn this.

      Or Burton vs Augustus 1.

If that didn't get overturned, nothing will.

Yeah, its just sad when you see a sport you care about get abused so much. I think these judges would've given Lacey the decision against Calz because it appears the only criteria for winning a round is moving forward

          Lol, well said.

Who do you think made this decision happen? Don King was promoting the fight, has anybody heard of him having options on Peter?

            September 7, 2006

“Toney won the fight. Peter got away with a lot of illegal shots with very little warning. I thought that point the ref did take away for the double punch to the ears was the least flagrant of all the fouls. Peter was hitting him in the back of the head, and right on the back. I thought Toney boxed the **** out of him!”

            - TSN’s Russ Anber

“I didn't score it round by round but I had James winning the fight from what I saw. Win, lose or draw it was clear to me that he was the better fighter overall. I get kind of turned off by boxing after fights like these. It seems that many times the announcers at ringside and the reporters in press row consistently put in more accurate scores than the guy that are actually paid to do so.”

            - “Iceman” John Scully

“I THOUGHT TONEY WON BY TWO ROUNDS. PLUS A POINT WAS TAKEN AWAY. PETER SUCKS. HE KEPT THROWING PUNCHES TO THE BACK OF THE GUYS HEAD. THAT LOOKED SCARY.”

            - Shannon Briggs

“I thought Toney won by at least two rounds and with the point deduction he should have won the fight fairly easy.”

            - Jeff Mayweather

“I thought it was a great fight and good for the unpredictable heavyweight division. I’m sitting there thinking about when Toney and I fought at 160lbs and I have to give it up to him, its really amazing what he has done. I had the fight scored 115-112 Toney. “

            - Reggie “Sweet” Johnson

“It was a bad decision. James Toney won that fight.”

            - Diego “Chico” Corrales

“I thought Toney won... clearly. When they announced those lopsided scores, I was certain (especially with Peter's point deduction) they were for JT. He stung Peter repeatedly with picture-book jabs -- kept beating him to the punch. Defensively, with some of those moves with his back to the ropes, I wanted to shout Ole!

James got hit with blockbusters that would've felled any heavyweight (and they shook him) but he re-grouped very quickly, and was never out of his game.

The fact that Peter took Toney's shots and kept coming doesn't negate how flush they were. They weren't shoe-shines, and any qualified judge should have scored them solid hits -- plus, he landed far more than Peter.

There've been worse decisions, but those dissenting scores are impossible. Even if Toney finished strong and scored two knockdowns during the fight, he'd still have lost.”

            - Joe Rein (Boxing Writers Association of America)

“I thought the kid won the fight (Peter). James didn’t do enough to win the fight. He didn’t finish strong like he normally does , didn’t go to the body enough, and didn’t dictate. The kid landed the harder shots and I thought that while it was close he did enough.”

            - Mike “The Bodysnatcher“ McCallum

“I was at Staples for the fight. I thought split decision Toney, or maybe a draw, didn't think Peter won it though.”

            - Vanes "the Nightmare" Martirosyan

“I thought James Toney had the edge. He was busier, sharper and showed better all around skills. Freddie had him ready. Peter did the best he could do and I thought had he snapped his jab more and came back with the hook behind the rights he was landing he would have looked better in the eyes of the fans. But he lacks movement, balance and getting position and I believe his size and strength kept him in the fight with James. An immediate rematch should be ordered, but probably won't be.”

            - Dan Birmingham

“I thought that fight was disgusting. Toney won the fight hands down without a doubt. Since when does someone lose credit for boxing and knowing how to fight? Peter got credit for missing and throwing wild punches. James Toney brings it back to the old school with his ability. I thought he was amazing to watch. The man was robbed. This is really killing the sport and making boxing lose credibility. Anyone who scored that fight for Sam Peter doesn’t know boxing and shouldn’t watch it anymore.”

            - Paulie “The Magic Man” Malignaggi

            http://www.fightfan.com/articles/090...oney-Peter.htm
Paulie said exactly what I said. Anyone that actually thinks Peter won the fight, or even thinks it was hard to judge, knows nothing about the sport. I will never respect any post they make on this sight, and I refuse to argue with idiots that can't defend their points with actual facts. It's unfortunate that these morons on this site alone are probably future judges. They meet the criteria: absolutely no knowledge of boxing and complete incompetence.

Yeah I agree. I'm keeping track of all the well known writers who had Peter winning and so far there's only ... a couple Max writers and Sally Jesse Dan Rafael

This **** still pisses me off and it's been almost a week

No liquor... just a few beers, and yes, I'm a smoker. How'd you ever guess? Seriously though, I wish real fans, who don't give a damn about the politics and all the other bull****, should be heavily involved in the industry. It won't happen, but it would be great for the sport. The elite of the sport make millions, and I wish we fans could instigate ****, so the best fights would be put on, and they would be judged fairly.

see thats the thing though man boxing is just like politics or any other form of power ... once you get there you'll do anything to keep it ..so if they say "hey mr toney see we got 5 mil sitting here that says your our ***** and peters gonna win no matter how good you do ..and if you so much as make a stink about it your off the network"
you dont think for a second toney would be there ***** ?

once we get in the big picture we'd give a **** less about the sport because in a sport that nets as much cash as boxing anybody will do anything and anybody to keep it

mike tyson is training in a las vegas show room right now ...not because he wants to ...but because he was don kings ***** don king took what he wanted and told mike what to say how to say it and when to get outta town

the **** is all about money guys
