Alex De Jesus' nickname used to be "El Pollo Whitaker", meaning "Chicken Whitaker". "El Pollo" was given to him by his parents because he was a very small child. As a matter of a fact, he competes in the 132 pounds division currently. "Whitaker" was given to him by his trainers at the boxing gym, because they thought Alexander's style of fighting was reminiscent of that of legendary four division world champion and 1984 gold medalist Pernell Whitaker. He announced just before the Olympics, however, that he was dropping off the "Whitaker" part from his nickname because he wants to form his own identity as a boxer.

I've seen every damn fighter possible, I just think Leonard and PBF are the most skilled fighters I've ever seen, after that is Whitaker and Robinson.

The only reason I don't put Whiatker with Leonard and PBF is he didn't have much of a power.

I disaggree, Whitiker had enough power to keep you honest -as is said in boxing- he didn't invest enough to score ko's cause that wasn't his style, ask Hurtado, who was out boxing Whitiker, if Whitiker has ko power.

But you fail to mention Wilfredo Rivera was robbed twice against Whitiker. But im sure you ain't ever seen Rivera v. Whitiker 1 or II. And Whitiker was already saying he lost the fight in the corner against Delahoya, no way Delahoya lost. Ramierez the 1st one all i've heard is that Whitiker refused to throw punchs and was back pedaling all night long. If Whitiker felt he was robbed against Chavez, then Whitiker should have granted Chavez the rematch he wanted with Whitiker to fight again and stop the bs of a robery.

Yeah right, no way Delahoya lost to Whitiker. Guy was clowing and dancing, did he think he was at a night club? Whitiker got lucky he didn't get points taken away from him in his fight with Chavez. And i havn't seen the Ramierz fight.

And i just seen Rivera v. Whitiker 2 again the other week and Rivera was robbed. Rivera countered Whitiker all knight long. Whitiker was an ultimate counter puncher and he was beat at his own game. I remember their first fight clearly going to Rivera. If you got the Rivera v. Whitiker fight watch it again, either fight.
