I prefer Willie Pep and Bomber Graham dodging shots.

Roberto Duran had a more skilled defense than Whitaker, Whitaker could only avoid shots on the back foot whereas Duran avoided shots on the front foot which requires twice as much skill.

I aggree, Duran had really good defensive skills.

Another one Wilfredo Benitez that guy like Duran could be right in front of you and make you miss punchs. Benitez was a great defensive fighters, he made prime Leonard and Hearns miss him while he was right in front of him.

I read on youtube, where the video is linked that somone said Mark Johnsons dad taught Whitiker what he knows -besides natural ability. Don't know if this is true or not?

Although I've never seen any of his fights, I've heard that Willie Pep was the sickest boxer ever. He is the only boxer to ever win a round without connecting a single punch. That is pure skill.

I've only seen a bit of clips of his fights here and their, but heard lots about him, slick boxer no doubt.

And don't forget Benny Leonard, i seen a HBO segamant of him they said he was slick too, they said he barly got hit and had a great stance, as they say did Jack Johnson. Talking about stance, some of the older boxers had a baddass stance like the ones mentioned and others. I don't know if that stance would still work in boxing. I know the European boxers have changed their style a bit too, look at Hatton hes real aggresive. But if you watch the older films you see they had great boxing stands and some had great balence.
