James is a great fighter and a sure first-ballot hall of famer. That doesn't mean he was/is better than RJJ. Roy showed him AND Nard who the boss was. He schooled Nard at 160 and Toney at 168, his best weight, IMO.

Roy fought all available challenges. Name one fighter Roy avoided. Just one! It's not his fault that those who were in his divisions were weaker/less skilled than he was. Jones is one of the top-10 best EVER when it comes to skills. Toney is just trying to get into the top 15.

Although, I do believe a Toney-Nard fight would've been an easy night for Toney.

Toney domination of the middleweight division was better then anything Jones did at any weight.

I'm not saying Jones wasn't a great fighter, he had good career, but I will put Hopkins and Toney ahead of him.

jones beat both hopkins and toney, both clearly.

he never struggled against the opposition they struggled with (mercado, thadzi) he never struggled period until the age of what... 34?

end of the story the rest is bull****

hopkins green at 29? after 23 pro fights?

weight problems for toney? who was in the gym while toney was eating cheeseburgers? jones. ad its not a case of duran-leonard 2, (with leonard offering the rematch to duran on weeks notice, knowing duran was overweight): the fight was signed months before. and its not like jones eaked out a close decision: he ridiculised toney.

roy jones is a ****y mother****er who now lives in denial of having lost it, but he was the best fighters of his generation and he convincingly beat the only ones who are legit contenders to that spot.

all of the excuse making of haters cant change what happened in the ring.

(nunn might have beat jones at 160, not at 175 like some ppl are implying, nunn at 175 was not the same he was before)

Also lets not forget, once Jones lost he turned into a bum, meaning he had no heart like the greats that have lost & came back.

Though what you are saying makes sense.. it's pretty irrelivant.

Styles make fights, just because one fighter beat another, doesn't mean he is the better fighter, Tarver beat Jones, Jones beat Hopkins, Hopkins beat Tarver.. now just because Tarver beat Jones, doesn't mean he's the better fighter, and just because Jones beat Hopkins.. doesn't mean he's the better fighter either (though most would say he was) but I'm just stating an example.

people should also not forget that by half of the fight jones had adapted to griffin, and was beating him systematically by the time of the dq

juyjuy your hate for jones knows no limits, your bias in presenting or omitting facts is pathetic

but it's true that futch was a genius and (among the many great thingd he did) presented jones with the only puzzle who took more than a round for him to solve. (same wrt to toney, btw) (and of course he modeled the way to beat ali)

meaning he was 35 and did not have any reflexes to rely on while fighting above his natural weight with a not so great chin (although he took clean shots form ruiz and tarver 1 and did not flinch). jones showed his heart in the championship rounds of tarver 1.

by now he should be retired

Yea the age excuse, both Hopkins and Toney are older and is still fighting great, this is another reason Both Hopkins and Toney should be ahead of Roid.

I swear Jones would've turned into a bum if he lost at the age of 25. Yea just doens't have the same balls like the all time greats did.

Ali lost to Fraizer and came back beating Fraizer and the baddest man alive in Foremon.
