Toney would be getting in his head, talking to him and taunting him. Ike would lose his head. That's how I see it. I don't care what the boxing writers or people on this forum have to say about Ibeabuchi, the guy never impressed me save for the Byrd knockout and a decision over Tua. Lennox Lewis was a class above him in all areas save chin and possibly stamina and he would have gone through him like he did Golota and all of the other highly touted contenders he actually trained hard for.

Anyone who acts hard or has a criminal record is treated like a god on this site, without fail. If Samuel Peter went out and ****d someone or robbed a bank and did a year or two of prison time, he would immediately become more popular on this site. It's a joke.
ike was a genetic freak. very strong but I think he was a little overrated by many. that fight with tua was very very close and I actually scored it a draw and tua has been outboxed and beaten since then. his win over byrd was impressive but he had that huge size advantage so he really was somewhat untested. he never fought a guy his size with skills such as a lewis or klit. he would have ended up a champion in this era obviously but I have my doubts that he'd have turned into a great or borderline great like a holyfield or lewis

Oh make no mistake he would go right through Wlad Klit, Maskaev, etc. with his style but I don't see him keeping it together against an opponent who he both couldn't hit and couldn't hurt, and who would be countering him back with every mistake he makes. Watch this fight, Ike vs. Tim Ray where he is countered and hurt by a pudgy nobody with a 10-9-2 record at the time. Yeah I know he had a layoff, and I know he finished the opponent soon after but look how he reacts to Ray's shots at one point, he completely turtles like a novice who's stepped into the ring for the first time and has taken his first good punch. Doesn't hold on, doesn't move his head, doesn't hit back, he just sort of sticks his gloves up and remains that way for a good 8 seconds.

I am just not high on the guy whatsoever. I thought he was imposing looking and had some good offensive skill, but defensively he wasn't all there and psychologically was quite fragile.

Right, so he just ate numerous shots from Tim Ray without throwing anything back in return because he felt like taking some abuse. He decided he was gonna knock this guy out eventually so why not let him get a few free hits in right? I didn't say he was hurt bad or in danger of being knocked down, but he is clearly hurt. What does a guy have to stagger around, have his knees buckle beneath him and lose his footing for you to consider him hurt?

He was hit by a few pitter patter punches, from a terrible journeyman, who was later TKO'd inside the first round. He took shot after shot off a prime David Tua. I can understand you thinking he was overrated, but you're now just typing verbal diarrhea, i'm sorry.

Ike's talent was there for everyone to see, and everyone has their own opinion, it's quite clear you don't like him and are upset he's much better than Peter will ever be. I said my piece earlier on about the Byrd fight, and Ike's ability, i'm taking no further part in this ever diluting ''debate'', goodnight.

It's a grumpy thread, I'm in a bad mood, so hey.

The guy has almost zero boxing ability. I dread to think how powerful he could be if he was taught how to throw punches properly. He's got pop even without technique, and his chin appears first-class. In this day and age, that's enough... maybe.

But the guy has so little technical ability (though nice job on countering the counterpuncher at times on Saturday) that he makes Frank Bruno look like Muhammad Ali.

Off the top of my head I can't think of a single heavyweight on the same level as Peter that is technically worse, or even equal to his ability.

And before any spiteful piss-takers say it, Danny Williams is a MUCH better technical boxer than Sam Peter.

Given that Peter is the all time tecnically worse heavyweight in boxing history, than what does that make Toney after losing to that guy?

                That's more humilating, dude.

Carnera was technically pretty damn good. In my opinion he was far better in that area than Peter, or even say Brewster for that manner.
