If Ike was frustrated against Byrd in the first few rounds of their fight, he would have completely lost his head with Toney. I think Toney would have dominated Ibeabuchi, who was extremely overrated and only has that decision win over a much smaller Tua. Ike would have fell apart when he would not only have trouble landing on Toney, but be unable to seriously hurt him with his punches when he did connect. Ike was not mentally fit enough to beat Toney.

Butterbean has more boxing ability than Peter.

Peter is just a large , strong man with heavy hands.

If he had any boxing ability he could be a force to reckon with. Unfortunately he just knows how to fight.

Holy ****, that's a frightening thought. After seeing Norton go toe-to-toe with Holmes and then remembering what Foreman did to him, it really makes you realise how superhuman Big George was in that regard.

You're kidding, right? Ike Ibeabuchi continuously landed shots on a PRIME Chris Byrd before the knockdowns. Chris Byrd at that stage, was as awkward a fighter as they come, his reflexes were superb, and the fact that Ibeabuchi kept landing punches, shows his patience and handspeed. So he can continusouly hit a prime Chris Byrd, but not Toney, who's flat footed?

Mentally fit? he was very mentally fit, IN THE RING, to be able to have that 12 round war with Tua, with little experience, then show such patience against Byrd, proves that. He slowed Chris Byrd down in that fight, and even had him cut, he was WINNING the fight up until the point of the knockdown.
James Toney would be in for a hell of a worse time fighting Ike than he did against Peter. Oh and Ike got rid of Byrd quicker than so called best puncher Wladimir Klitschko, and Byrd was well past his prime, so i think Ike might have a bit more power than you give him credit for.

You have your favourite boxers, and boxers you don't like, and it shows Mr Achilles, because you lose your sense of rational thought when talking about them. Many people think Ibeabuchi had a legitimite shot at Lennox Lewis, never mind James Toney, not to say Toney is not a decent heavyweight, but you really are a biased guy at times.

I've seen the Byrd fight, have you? Ike was freaking out at the end of some of those rounds and looking very much like the nutcase he really was. He did not look composed or patient. He fought on in spite of this because Byrd couldn't hurt him, wore Byrd down and caught him with a MONSTER shot, but I don't see him doing that against Toney. Toney would be getting in his head, talking to him and taunting him. Ike would lose his head. That's how I see it. I don't care what the boxing writers or people on this forum have to say about Ibeabuchi, the guy never impressed me save for the Byrd knockout and a decision over Tua. Lennox Lewis was a class above him in all areas save chin and possibly stamina and he would have gone through him like he did Golota and all of the other highly touted contenders he actually trained hard for.

Anyone who acts hard or has a criminal record is treated like a god on this site, without fail. If Samuel Peter went out and ****d someone or robbed a bank and did a year or two of prison time, he would immediately become more popular on this site. It's a joke.

Yeah, Kid Achilles is just blindly pro-Toney.

I know he's not a fan of Toney, but that doesn't mean he can't use him as an example when he wants to, he likes Ibeabuchi even less it appears.

He maybe over rated by most fans i'll give you that, many ppl make him out to be the next Joe Louis which he was not. I do think he was very good and would still be one of the tip top fighters today [maybe even have a ko over Wlad by now]. But as far as him beating Lewis i'm not so sure he would have .

ike wouldnt have beat an in shape, focused lewis. lewis had too much reach and good lateral movement. ike would have had a hard time landing on lewis. also ike wasnt a very good defensive fighter although he had a very good chin.I think lewis would have won a fairly wide decision. now the ****y unfocused lewis would have got taken out by ike but I dont think he would have taken ike lightly so he probably wouldnt go into a fight out of shape or unfocused with him
