Oquendo is not the same fighter who fought Chris Byrd a while back, in his last few fights I saw him look good for a round or two and then running and clinching for dear life.Originally posted by paul750Styles make fights, they're two different types of fighters, i'd go as far as to say Oquendo would give James Toney a lot of trouble.Comment

I think Texas is the only state that will give him a license to fight, guess he'll continue to fight here until Texas revokes hios license, and then it's off to Ireland, Scotland, Europe....Originally posted by IwatchBoxingLOL, damn, is this serious, how would this fight put Oquendo for a title shot? Holyfeild is done...and why the hell in Texas?
hopefully by then he'll have had his fill of the sport, hopefully.Comment

Well guys, this is where it ends.
He's gonna fight a GOOD opponent. A guy who has outboxed opponents in fights where he lost even.
Holyfield is gonna get hammered. I predict a long, painfull fight untill oldyfields corner throws in the towel.
So dont worry about him getting hurt. He'll get hurt, but not for life. Unfortunaly

Oquendo has only lost two legitimate fights - to David Tua and John Ruiz. That's a sufficient resume to get a shot at one of the four belts now.Originally posted by IwatchBoxingLOL, damn, is this serious, how would this fight put Oquendo for a title shot? I didn't like the idea of Holyfield facing SSS nor do I like him facing a dangerous opponent in Oquendo so soon in his comeback.
I think Holyfield should take the Foreman approach and get a couple more "easy fights" or "tuneups" under his belt against guys who he can look good against and gain confidence. Oquendo is a decent journeyman heavyweight who can have a good performance on any given night.
In his last fight, albeit against Bates, Holyfield started warming up early which enabled him to flurry enough for the KO. Holyfield should employ this strategy in his future bouts; start warming up early and pressuring his opponent and going for the knockout if possible.
In other words, Holyfield needs to get away from his old style of warming up slowly and coming on strongly in the mid to late rounds and fighting a war of attrition.Comment
