nah cottos fighting @147.He needs to at least fight a legit welter.

As for cotto's future,I wouldnt be a fan If I didnt think he could do great things,I think he beats Hatton rather easily,I doubt the castillo fight happnes now,but I think he would beat him too.

Neither of those guys carry what has hurt cotto the most, and thats speed.

He needs to fight someone else first.

props to Cotto for surving the Torres fight. He was clearly hurt in almost every round but dug deep and fought back.

@ 147 he might be stronger though.

How will he handle welterweight power ?

      time will tell.

I like his body work on opponents. Its a lost skill in todays boxing world. But his chin worries me, everytime he gets dropped or stunned people are making exscuses for him. "That can happen to anyone" or "It as lucky". But it seems his chin is questionanble, and at the lower weights it may not have been an issue. But moving up to 147 and beyond where the fist are much heavier it could prove fatal.

I think the first fight against a genuine WW puncher should tell his future.

It dont matter about ur chin,it matters how u can recover, and boy can Cotto recover, only 2 ppl have went the distance with Torres,he was a hard puncher, and Cotto shew heart wen he got hurt,he moved around, ducked, got his feet back and went back 2 body blows,Cotto's the best at recovering after he gets hurt,he's definatly one of my fav fighters, and hes got more skills then most power fighters 2day,hes got sum killer body shots and a left hook

You know how it goes man, the more a hype a fighter gets, the closer people watch him waiting for a chance to knock him. I had a problem with him before, but now that he's moving up to where he belongs I just want to see how he does without the size advantage.

I agree he did show heart, but Torres really doesn't have a killer resume either. Torres has power, but not the kind of pop that a Hatton or Gatti or even Castillo brings, and certainly not the offensive skills. It'll be interesting to see how he does when the guys get bigger lol

I'd have to disagree with you on that one, Torres is a fast, home run hitter, and his power is in the same league as those fighters you mentioned. You're mentioning Cotto's size advantage, but in all fairness we should say that is mostly a water advantage as he's been dehydrating and killing himself for making weight, its not a muscle mass advantage, know what I mean.

Skills, determination and good heart alone doesn't automatically transcends into a succesful career. These characteristics can only assure a fighter of recognitions and a good fan base. But couple these characteristics with with a good career management plan and he'll be making it really big.

Rightnow Cotto is being managed perfectly.
