Ring and ESPN, who matter more than any other ranking, are paid nothing. There goes that theory. Look, I get this is a side entry way of belittling Wilder's resume and that's fine. I couldn't care less. I think Wilder's resume is thin as well. But to act like Ortiz is some bum because Wilder starched him twice is ignorant. Wilder does have ATG power and it's undeniable. Go back to boxing school, I don't have any more time for you.Comment

I was assuming he's not ranked at HW because he signed up for Bridger. I'm not assuming the sign up though. It's a ranking of men who were contacted by the WBC and agreed to fight at BW. That's why Usyk and Wilder are not there, they declined.
Apparently I can't link the article from BN24 but I can copy:
By Gav Duthie: A new weight class has been conceived by the WBC in November 2020 called the ‘Bridgerweight’ division and the rankings for it have now been published. The division will comprise of fighters who weigh between 200-224lbs to give fighters the chance to win a title who are most likely too small to compete with the likes of Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua. The WBC have spent the last 6 weeks contacting a number of heavyweight and cruiserweight talent to see if they would like to join the new division or stay where they are.
Only the WBC are involved in this. They will have a title for the champion but as of yet the WBA, IBF and WBO are staying out of it. There has been a little bit of criticism and skepticism of the division at present but in fairness it was the same when Cruiserweight was created for a similar reason back in 1979. It is a bit disappointing for them that Deontay Wilder has refused to take part when many people feel the division was created for him in the first place. He said he was likely to seriously hurt someone and declined to participate. The WBC have managed to garner enough interest to create a full top 15 rankings. It is likely that in the new year they will have a vacant title fight between the highest ranked available contenders as well as eliminator fights for who the champion will face.
Oscar Rivas 26-1 (18)
Colombian heavyweight who’s only loss was a close decision to Dillian Whyte. He usually weighs between 225 and 235 lbs in his fight but is without a doubt the highest profile fighter who is interested in taking part. He has been much avoided at HW but could be a star if this takes off.
Signed up, did not opt out, not sure which is technically correct, but, the point is it's not just some rando list of applicably weighted men.
What makes you think the Rivas fight is at HW btw? I don't know that you're wrong, I'm not saying you are, but, Sylvera's career high is 218. They're both right in there, weight wise, as BWs. Only thing I pulled to suggest it's HW is the Boxrec schedule which, it's boxrec. They don't have anything Bridger yet that I see. No rating, nothing scheduled. Could be a BW fight.Comment

You can argue top 15, I know he's way older than listed and has beaten no one
I don't rate guys on who they were years ago, I rank them on who they are now..
Spot check, are you a Wilder fan?Last edited by Dr. Z; 02-26-2021, 03:18 PM.Comment

Wilder didn’t even fight a prime Ortiz and barely got by him so where Ortiz is now doesn’t reflect on Wilders resume , he beat a guy who was never established anyway as a name to the public and he has medical issues , most didn’t even wanted to see Wilder fight him again .
what exactly am I missing here besides Ortiz absence of any fight worth talking about NOW ?Last edited by REDEEMER; 02-26-2021, 04:14 PM.Comment

Okay, LMAO right back. Who was Ortiz last big win, and how old do you think he is now? Please reply. Who has he beaten, who?

Seems like nothing is actually important to you and what you claim carries importance is just a vehicle to express your opinion. Bit pretentious, as if making a logical or sound case absolves you from hypocrisy and/or inconsistency.
Don't like Wilder so just pick which top tens you acknowledge that way you can say Wilder's never fought a top ten or a top ten under 35. Not true, but sure.
Tell me X can't be the guy Y ducked because Z was rated above him then tell this guy it's not the nearly a decade in the top tens that indicates a fighter's worth, it's their recent resume. Hmm.
So, um, what matters in boxing Z? Rating? Sometimes, when you choose. Resume? Sometimes, when you choose. Both? Sometimes, when you think you have an anecdote you don't.
The **** has Filip Hrgovic done? Nothing, ever. Ortiz won a title in like 2012. He's been a top guy a long time. Whatever reasoning you use to boast Filip ought to explain why you don't like Ortiz, but, Filip is one of the few hyped pro HWs who makes Ortiz's resume look good.
