Reynoso has been a god-send for Valdez's career. I've been of a fan of Valdez since the Garza fight, but I really thought Berchelt would be too much for him. This is definitely his career best performance. But man, Berchelt looked horrible (other than his other-worlderly punch resistance).

I and others have been hugely critical of reynoso, Oscar looked like he had regressed under him and was not taking well to the style he was trying to implement.

well, i have to finally give him his props, perfectly executed the new style to a TEE. i will rewatch this fight a thousand times now.

I was watching replays of Berchelt's LO loss to Luis Florez earlier this week and thought this was a possibility, but I did NOT think Oscar was going to outbox him for huge stretches of the fight and make Berchelt miss as much as he did. I think Berchelt needs to go up to 135, he was definitely drained imo

Have you seen Berchelt fight? Did you see how much he gets hit in fights against brawlers? 135 is stacked with people who can box and he loses his huge size advantage. He just lost to a smaller fighter coming up who's just alright himself.

I always thought Valdez was a fun fighter, never thought he was a good fighter.
