Ruiz performance vs AJ 2 is one of the worst I've ever seen.

Ruiz was terrible. Ruiz was overweight.

Don't let that distract you though. Joshua came in incredible shape. He changed his style and stayed disciplined in boxing to a plan.

Surely you can respect that Joshua, for all his faults, never falls short in his preparation, never makes excuses, and never shirks a challenge. Fury is favourite, yet no-one mentions that Joshua is the underdog with more to lose. He can make millions defending his multiple belts. No-one is forcing him to take this fight, but he will anyway.

I can't understand what people on here don't like about the guy.

It was a sad watch. Ruiz was in no condition to fight. I remember him landing once and he buzzed AJ. Joshua did what he had to do and won, and I give him credit for that, but it was no masterclass.

Ruiz fought poorly and was not in shape but he has fought well in the past. He has lost a lot of weight and has a new good trainer so I want to see him fight a top guy to see how good he is now. He KOed AJ so how bad can he be.

He promised a brutal revenge KO of Ruiz before the rematch, Then he won every round but never even tried for a KO and fought a safety first fight taking as few risks as possible to still win the fight. He won by a mile but it was a boring fight. Don't promised a brutal KO and then fight so cautiously.

I don't know if he just thought the same thing would happen again or whether he just got carried away with the new found money and fame but he disgraced himself and didn't focus on the rematch at all.

At the same time Joshua lost, made no excuses, took the immediate rematch and got to work. Very professional, the opposite of Ruiz. Its things like that that make me such a big fan of AJ. I can see he is far from the perfect Boxer but i can also see he tries his hardest to be the best he can be and I have massive respect for that.

As for the running scared BS Joshua employed a safety 1st game plan but he didn't run scared. He took control and did the work to win the rounds, he left it up to Ruiz to have to come in and try to do something to earn some point where he would punish him. Like the OP states, Ruiz just didn't so Joshua wasn't going to put himself in danger when he was already in full control. I'd of loved to see an aggressive Joshua demolish Ruiz in style but the smart plan was the plan we saw. It was Ruiz who didn't want to play.
Agreed. Ruiz not only disgusted me and made me not like him....I wanted to take it out on other fat people.

He was given the biggest opportunity and made good of it....but he went back to being 'fat' and lazy. Now we can't trust him around food and possibly alcohol because he has zero self control.

I just hated that ****** smirk on his face after losing the rematch...then he had the nerve get all testy because people boo'd him and said bad things about him. Fuqq that fat fool.

As mentioned in this thread, he'll NEVER get another big opportunity like this again.

He just blew it and acted like it was nothing. He doesn't deserve to be champ and I'm glad he no longer holds titles at HW.

Fighters say a lot of things... and the vast majority are rubbish. They can't predict fights with that kind of certainty. Obviously.

Out of interest, what would 'trying for the KO' look like? Would it involve punching him in the face? Because I remember him doing that quite a bit.

One thing I know. Ruiz can`t beat Fury and he won`t beat Joshua again. Joshua is not ****** enough to exchange shots again and Fury wins every round against Ruiz.

sad performance from Ruiz. the hype and money got to him. he has some of the fastest hands at the HW division and got a chin. when I saw him at the weigh in I knew it was oner b4 it began. the way aj lost in that first match will always linger in his head IMO

Ruiz Jr. lost that fight the way he lost it due to his laziness and part-ay mode during their preparations. He had the beating of AJ, even once he modified his approach for the fight and decided to outbox him; heck, were he in better form, faster on his feet mostly, he should have been able to cut him off and get into range and start throwing combos, perhaps even with less of a risk of walking into a check-shot or a heavy counter (AJ was mostly trying to keep himself at range this time around).

But since he neglected to prepare properly, the fight went the way it did. Though it was kinda silly how spooked AJ looked whenever Ruiz DID manage to get into range and connect with something.
