What if one of the Fury - Joshua pair is injured and quits the sport after fight 1?

Rematch close is an option on the future. It should not change anything by itself.

If there is no rematch the winner would have 2 options - fight Usyk next or vacate the WBO title.

Fury might retire after two fights...
I have a feeling Fury will retire after the 1st fight, win or lose.

I would love for who ever wins to dump all the belts.
            Imagine it....
Stop paying them the 300k max every fight each for what? trinket belts.
Keep the ring belt, keep the lineal status & fight the next best in the heavyweight rankings & not pointless oldmandatories.
Boxer's like Aj fight so rarely & alway's with contracts any sport left has gone out of the window. You loose you should get back in line, earn your shot.

Wilder fans won't like it, I don't know why but some American Boxing fans seem to be really against unifying titles for some reason.
Undisputed for ten seconds is hardly undisputed though. It’s like Fury with the IBF belt.

That's the best damn idea I've heard in a long time.

I could imagine Alvarez doing that too if he becomes undisputed. Not Josh Taylor, though (if he also becomes undisputed later this year). It can only be done by a money fighter.

If Tyson Fury wins, I would be astonished if he wants to fight on.

Great fighter but a poor champion all around, does not want to defend his belts at all.

Note: For all the people stating that fighters should dump all the belts, you are very wrong. Boxing needs to keep its prestige, and Championship belts bring prestige to the sport. After Fury vs Joshua is over, people will just move on to their NEXT fixed 'Where is the next fight, where is the next fight'.

Boxing needs to stop lemmings, try and dictate how the sport is run.

Whoever wins the 1st fight should throw the WBO belt in the bin on camera and invite usyk to rake around the garbage for his crappy belt
