Julio César Chávez vs Mike Tyson

In your opinion, if Chávez and Tyson were the same age and were in the same weight class...who would you put your money on?

    Realistic answers please...

Chavez too skilled for Tyson not to mention that chin in his prime is uncrackable! Tyson chin however would crack under Chavez pressure.

I would have to agree. But, then again, you never know.

Tyson all the way. HIs head movement defence, ultra speedy power punching, footwork
He would have blastd that jaw. I have no dount about THAT.

The urban legend that he cracks under pressure is just that , a story, because of his later performances when he was a shell of himself. He went 11 monstrous rounds with Holyfield and didn't fold. He was already past peak and in the clutches of Don King. He went through several gruelling 12 rd fights with plenty of reisistance, winning them all. You MUST know that

He didn't "retire" in a single fight, but went on even though he knew he would lose, to a KO.

Truly durable fighters handled Tysons power and took him the distance.Chavez had great head movement, and the biggest one punch hitters of the time didnt even make him blink. What Chavez didnt do was fade in any fight.Mike lost concentration in a few ,Tillis,Bonecrusher ,Ribalta, Ruddock, guys like Tucker ,these guys didnt crumble before him. They dare not dream they had a defence and chin as a peak Chavez.

Well...they all had 4-5 inches in height and 7=8 inches in reach> I didn't say that everyone crumbles. You are confirming what In said, that he had several tough full 12 rounders and he didn't crumble. I know Chavez was very good but I saw him fight several times and I'm sure that Tyson would break him don with sheer power and evesive head movement. His doubl right hand to the body and head followed by an uppercut would eventually cut Xhavez down. I don't say he's JO him. But he's beat him in pinching power, speed and defnce. And in those days he was very determined which means he would NOT "crumble". He had a winners mind-set all the way.

Chavez couldn't punch anything like Tyson either.

It seems there's mixed feelings in regards to this hypothetical question, each with their own merits. Chavez, pound for pound I feel is the more scientific fighter. But, I'm still learning, that's the reason I joined this forum.
