Here is the issue. He signed an extension to fight Lomachenko and is under contract for 3.5 more years.

He really lost his leverage with the extension and I doubt any other network will put a serious bid for the fight. Why would they? Lopez hasn't proven to be a star just yet and he will go right back to ESPN like Arum stated.

Lopez feels he took the risk of fighting the P4P great as a green fighter and thought it would make him big money afterwards, but that's not the case. Lomachenko and Crawford have 3M+ guarantees and Lopez is likely looking for that...But he signed his extension to get Lomachenko and now he really can't do nothing about it.
How much longer was his deal with TR if he wouldn't have signed an extension to fight Loma I wonder?

If it was a couple more yrs it was probably worth it.

And sh^t without Loma Teo ain't the Teo he currently is.

It doesn't really seem like it did much for him, either money or popularity wise. Lopez is still virtually unknown, beyond the hardcores.

He got bumped to a mill & change minimum. He did nice ratings with the Loma fight. He was fighter of the year by a few groups iirc. The casuals don't come running that quick to guys under 147lbs. Teo's one of the biggest names under 147.

I mean where do you think he'd be without the Loma W? Sh^t he might be defending against that guy who shoulda gotten the nod over Rollie last time out.

              That I don't know.

Here is the thing with Lopez, he literally has not headlined a big card yet where TR can see just what type of draw he is. The ratings for the Lomachenko fight were amazing and the main event averaged a MILLION more than Crawford/Brook so you have to give Lopez his credit for contributing to that rating.

I think once Lopez is able to show he can draw heavy, then he will starting getting a big pay raise. Right now though? TR has all the leverage in the world and can slow play this with him.

Team Lopez thought if they beat Lomachenko, they would be the biggest name in the sport. But that's not how it works. As good as Lomachenko is, not like he is a huge name or anything or can that does huge gate numbers. He's a good name a hell of a fighter.

This isn't like Mayweather or Pacquiao beating DLH and then going from star to MEGA STAR. If Lopez beats Tank, then I bet his name value would rise tremendously.

Lopez needs to go see the best lawyer he can and except no more contract extensions period and now he must assume the worst from his current promoter and get the **** out ASAP he needs to do whatever Floyd did or similar he just needs to gtfo from top rank also he will need to play the game sometimes you have to give a little to get meaning play with the promoters

I highly doubt the Lopez fam thought the doors to the safe with all the gold in it would open immediately upon a Loma W.

I mean this is still TR. TR didn't open the safe for any of their previous big names for awhile past when they deserved it & I'm not sure they ever opened it very often for non-in house fights.

I don't think the Lopez fam are that naive & I know his manager David McWater isn't. I do think they are from the same Speak It Believe It Receive It family Deontay & others are on. Thus they are going to openly speak what they believe they should receive.

Fighters just don't learn that Top Rank, sooner or later, is going to screw you over. It's hard to even feel bad for these guys now, if you don't learn from history you're destined to repeat it.
