Joe Smith Jr imho would be a much better fight for Canelo
Interesting... I had Gvozdyk up by a round when the stoppage occurred and didn't think the Adonis fight was even close. Artur did basically bully him into submission though, so you may be right about his heart... But to be fair, Beterbiev would do that to anybody at 175.

As for Smith, I think the Bivol fight demonstrated that he struggles mightily against guys with superior defensive insticts (i.e. Canelo), so I don't think he poses much of a challenge.

BTW, do you know why Gvozdyk retired? Was it because of his injuries or guilt over Adonis or both or what?

I really like Bivol but he’s a bit too tidy and I think Canelo can do pretty much everything he does but better.

Beterbiev might have the sort of style that would suit Canelo at lower weights, but at light heavy he could be a huge problem. He might be able to take a few counters to maul Canelo, and if he keeps coming forward and Canelo can’t keep him off him, then he’d be in trouble.

Interesting observation, when I was rewatching Bivols fight with Smith I remember thinking something was off about Bivols style,& you just made me realize that's exactly what it was,Bivol is very stiff & almost overly orthodox, but he would give Canelo a war because he potshots like Canelo & often employs the peekaboo style Canelo does & he fights big,(I wonder if Bivol is schooled by Japanese?)

I have no idea why he retired (I assumed it was because nobody wanted him after Beterbieve took his soul(I will now look into this too)

Yes you're right that Bivol does fight like Canelo kindve but he is also much bigger than Canelo,so I think Smith would provide a fun brawl type fight even if Smith loses Because Smith is among the very few fighters with nothing to lose whos willing to swarm & brawl smaller guys, hes a warrior for sure(like a Kirkland but better)(most Canelos opponents have half assed when they realized they lose & stunk up the joint)

Bivol is a very dangerous opponent for anyone because he is humble & doesn't underestimate his opponents at all,he speaks very highly of every top opponent/potential opponents

Beterbieve is kindve wasting his career in a way too(he doesn't have much fans for some damn reason like Loma did or even ggg,he should get every 1 of the fans by default but for some reason they keep him on the shelf & nobody pays attention to him much.)

Canelo DID beat ggg& he was Undefeated & p4p#1 so GTFOH hater(yes I'm a Canelo fan,but unlike deluded fools like you I speak facts, like Canelo beat ggg thats a fact)

(How ****** can you be than to say Canelo can't beat lhws when hes been beating opponents like 200 lb kov by ko who outweighed Canelo by like 15-20(regardless of version) he beat the #1 smw who was bigger than most lhws,Jacobs too, novice

And I never said he beats them both, nor for sure,I said they are the true threats & can beat him(I only said Beterbieve is tailor made stylewise as I said about Callum Smith & was ridiculed for it by haters)

Bivol and Betterbiev are the only current tests out there. No one else comes close.

Bivol or Benevidez would be top of my list with Charlo or Plant on the next tier down. I've no desire to see a Beterbiev match as that would almost certainly involve a weight handicap.

Bivol, Beterbiev, Andrade, and Charlo probably in that order. After last night, Bivol is a 50 50 fight. Beterbiev, Andrade, Charlo would be underdogs but not nearly as big an underdog as billy ho. Plant and Benavidez would be massive massive underdogs. I don't think Jean Pascal should fight Canelo either with his style, he leans forward like the just like Billy Ho and would take one of those uppercuts just as bad.
