Vergil Ortiz can very well have a spectacular performance against any Elite fighter at 147,, Golden Boy has been getting Vergil Ortiz the correct Step Up fights that he needs to be ready for the top guys and he's blown them all out spectacularly. If Vergil can do the job more impressively than Jose Ramirez than this kid is definitely ready for Danny Garcia or Keith Thurman. Not quite ready for Bud or Errol but at the Cusp.

Looking forward to someone knocking Errol Spence off his perch. The guy is a PBC champ, and unwilling to fight the best in the division.

If so, make Ortiz -Porter for a start.

How exactly are those guys "avoiding him like the plague"

C’mon, the only person holding this fight up is Porter. Vergil is willing to get in the ring w/t the best of them, is the other guys that want no part of him. The reason Shawn gave for not giving Vergil a shot is b/c he didn’t get one either when he was coming up, LOL. What type of garbage is that? People, need to start calling out these PBC fighters for ducking any non PBC welterweights it’s embarrassing.

Mmm... Vergil has called out all three of those fighters and all three have stated they won’t be fighting him anytime soon. No worries though Vergil is ranked in the top 5 in 3 of the 4 major governing bodies @ welter, so sooner or later if any of these champs want to keep their belt they’ll have to fight him or vacate. Time is on Vergil side not PBC’s

I have no problems with guys telling him to pay his dues before stepping in the ring. Nobody is calling for those fights and his team hasn't sent any offers to any of those guys. Let me know when they turn down a legit offer, then we can talk about ducking. Until then he is a contender trying to prove he is championship level. I like him but the gassing by people on this site is crazy. They did the same for Spence

Since PBC fighters are avoiding him... how about Vergil vs Boots Ennis? I’m down for that! 🥊

I want to see Ennis against better comp (his next fight will show something), but he is clearly an elite contender on Vergil's level or possibly better who will have his day against the WW elite. I am a big TC fan and I still believe he's the best WW, but I won't at all be upset to see Vergil Ortiz or Boots Ennis take over the WW division. Crawford and Spence have just about run out of good will from unbiased fight fans. Time for the next generation.
