Would Paul Williams have beaten young Canelo?Who had higher ceiling Pirog or Paul?

I was just reminded of Paul Williams by another thread,& it made me remember how much I have always liked him inside & outside the ring. And it also reminded me of several things, like Pirog breaking his back when he was signed to fight ggg, similar to Canelo & Williams being signed before his accident. And it made me think, who had the higher ceiling & which of them do you think would've beaten their opponent they were signed to fight?

Would GGG have even been known & gotten those belts if he faced Pirog(would he have derailed his career?)

Would Williams have beaten Canelo based on boths prior fights?(Canelo Im sure would've still been a star regardless as he went after killers when Floyd schooled him.)

Pirog would have easily destroyed Canelo and Williams.

Pirog would have beaten GGG & Canelo would have won a decision vs Williams.

Real shame about Pirog he was a fantastic talent

Yeah was really something how he flattened young Danny Jacobs while Canelo and GGG won competitive decisions against him.

Its one of those, coulda beens.

I like Paul in and out of the ring. He was a warrior inside the ring and I heard he was very smart and humble outside the ring which is what I hear helped him financially after his accident.

That being said he was regressing prior to his accident. He never used his physical gifts to his advantages and although that's what gave him the badass reputation he had it was also his downfall in his tougher fights.

Canelo would've knocked Paul out as he bent down to 5'6 in his stance. Pirog had a higher ceiling.

looking back on it, taking on lara after a 2nd round KO loss was pretty ballsy, jumping right back into a top opponent.

he was only 31 and had a few more years left of his prime

he could have certainly outworked a young canelo in 2012, that is a definite possibility

williams was shot when the canelo fight was made. look at his recent resume: knocked out cold, dominated and battered vs lara, looked mediocre vs ishida. he was just a name for canelo's resume at that point.

his prime was over. he took a beating in that first martinez fight and was never the same. some of those punches he took my god. absolutely brutal ko shots over and over. props to him for that chin. just look at his very next fight against kermit cintron. an easy stay busy fight and he had nothing in that one. he was lucky to get the win after cintron jumped out of the ring fight after that he was destroyed by martinez. fight after that destroyed by lara. fight after that he looked old and sluggish vs ishida. thats a good sample size of evidence to show he was done.
