My friend's father was on the Marine Corps boxing team with Leon Spinks. I learned everything about boxing from him. Another boxer on that Marine Corps team was Roger Stafford. He fought for the welterweight title and beat Pipino Cuevas. It was Ring Magazine's 1981 "Upset of the Year". RIP

The first fight was a lot better than people remember. Think it may have got Ring Magazine FOTY. It was definitely upset of the year. Both guys were running on empty in that 15th round but just kept on exchanging.

And with so few pro fights at the time. If memory serves that Ali win was his 8th pro victory.
