Comments Thread For: David Benavidez: I'm Way More Prepared, No Mistakes Making Weight This Time

David Benavidez learned very costly lessons in the days leading up to his last fight. The former WBC super middleweight champion came to Mohegan Sun for fight week too heavy and didn't realize he wouldn't have access to the tools he typically uses to shed the final pounds prior to weighing in. Coming in nearly three pounds overweight cost the undefeated Phoenix native his 168-pound title, a lot of money from his purse and eliminated Benavidez's leverage to secure high-profile fights within his division.

Must be back on the stemfast diet. Watch him pop for ******* again . Dude is pudgey and not defined, he is clearly an undisciplined fighter even when he makes 168lbs.

I didn't know Abel Sanchez is training Benavidez. That's a good fit imo. Be interesting to see how he looks in his next fight.

I believe in you young Bull! Latino pride, AZ pride!!! Let’s go champ!!! Plants puzzy ass is gonna hide behind your mistakes so he’ll use that against you like the bi.tch that he is. But it’s ok, you make the weight come back stronger and force him and Canelo and anyone at 68 to have to fight you by beating any and everyone the put in front of you till you get to be title holders... force them!

A good fighter whose career can go to crap in a hurry if he is not a tad more focused. I like a motivated Benavidez and what he adds to this division. An unmotivated Benavidez just costs people money and ruins what is a top heavy 168 round robin over the next year and a half or so.

I don't see anything about him hiring a nutritionist.

That would be a tremendous help. Go get that Mike Dolce guy that helps UFC fighters always make weight.
