Does anyone remember when Roy Jones was roasted by Hbo for fighting dogcatchers

It feels like everyones a revisionist these days & forgets that during Roy Jones prime he was roasted constantly for fighting actual Police, dogcatchers & postal workers. I just can't find the footage of I think Hbo literally saying this word for word & showing a resume breakdown.

Does anyone else remember this & how do you think it relates to today where the msm & fans move the goalposts to rank fighters p4p#1 or like Jones case, after his career ended hes now made out to be unbeatable goat by revisionist who say hed murder everyone since.

Fighters of today are automatically underrated til they retire or not even then but yesteryears fighters are deified despite them fighting a lot of nobodys.

Wasn't that when RJJ fought policeman Richard Frazier? I remember him being criticized harshly for that fight at the time.

Anyhow, someone here had similar ideas 13 years ago:

I don't quite get the mockery of fighters who have side jobs.

Individual sports operate entirely differently from team lemming type sports.

There have been Olympic Champions in many sports, that have had to work side jobs etc

I don't think its the side job thats the issue but rather that p4p elite fighters are expected to face the absolute best & if an opponent has a side job as a dogcatcher or something it means they aren't elite Because they aren't full time fighters otherwise they'd make enough income to focus on fighting foremost.(even lower level top 10 fighters usually earn enough to fight as their career)(In RJJ case he was known for many yrs as a cherrypicker Because of perceived image of cherrypicking part timers(I think at least a few were all there was at the time in his division but I distinctly remember pundits roasting him regularly for it)

There are about 5 elite fighters in every division.

Less than 50-80 in the entire sport.

People who watch too much teach sports, don't understand individual sports in my opinion.

I know what you are trying to say, just don't get the mockery.

I'm not saying I agree with anyone, but I constantly hear how Jones would murder the elites of today & how he ducked nobody ,& I still always remember those yrs where Prime Jones was constantly roasted.

Anyways I found a link for a policeman Jones fought in 98' so it does back up my memory of Hbo dedicating segments to nicknaming him the cherrypicking king or something along those lines:

I'll try to find more,I wish I could find the actual segment though
(Full disclosure I'm a big fan of Jones Because hes a true og triple og warrior who will fight til he dies it seems

Basically it shows that every top fighter will always fail to live up to the hype for many. Nothing is good enough

Just noticed my numbers are way off, in the second part of my post.

anyway, you get what I am trying to say 'There are not many elite fighters in the game'.

Yeah, I do remember him being roasted for it, the fights I wish he took was against Daruisz michdlfllflflflf or whatever his name was and Vasil Jirov at 190 which was cruiser before 2003 I think.

Because of pure athleticism and skill, yes he's way up there.
